Talking We Didn't Build This City On Rock And Roll. We Built This City On Cliches!

I was listening to "We Built This City On Rock And Roll" By Starship, and I thought, "We built this country on cliches!" Think about it. Cliches are a BIG part of this country.... Ahh, cliches! Ahh, the "good girl" going out with the "bad boy" so that she can feel some kind of "danger"(the good kind of danger) Even Johnny Bravo on Cartoon Network is a BIG cliche. And that's why he was/is a big hit. He 's arrogant, vain, self-centered, still lives with his mama even though he is a grown ass adult, is a mama's boy chases EVERY pretty girl he sees, and he has no job and sits around the house eating nacho chips and watching TV. CLICHE!

I agree, cliches run rampant in the TV and movie industry. Like in the old TV shows (Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Patty Duke); the dad went to work while the mother took care of the kids and did the cooking and housework.

Eventually you start to see things changing; esecially in the 70's and 80's shows. Examples are:
"All In the Family" with its political views, and sometimes controversial issues, "Growing Pains" where the dad moves his practice back home and mom goes to work
"Three's Company"-Two women living with a guy who has to pretend to be gay in order to continue to live there

"Full House-a widower with three daughters and his best friend and brother in law all in one house.

Interesting how times change.

I don't know, but I've always hated that song.

Making things up is not poetic licence, it's just making things up. How does one determine what's real and what's poetic license?
