Default Was Jaycee Lee Dugard ever on UM?

Now that she has been found I was curious to know what shows was her case ever profiled on? UM?

I know this isn't going to be of much help because I can't recall exactly when she was featured on UM but I am 100% positive she was. It's possible that she wasn't given her own segment but instead was featured as part of a story about abductions of young girls in California in the early ninties.

Amber Swartz and Michaela Garecht are among the other girls who were abducted around this time and for awhile the abductions were thought to be the work of one or two individuals. Someone else (crystaldawn?) might have more information.

I was looking on the charley project page and they also mentioned the possible link between amber and michaela and jaycee. They suspected James Daveggio and his girlfriend as possible suspects and it was CRAZY how much the sketch of Jaycee female kidnapper looked just like Daveggio's girlfriend.

Hey there Dante! Interesting you think it was featured on UM. I've had two people ask me today if it was and I don't remember it. It could have been one that never made it to Lifetime or was a one time Special Alert. Maybe Justin or Kane will remember.

I'm not one of the UM experts but I am almost positive this one was on UM as well. I know I remember watching a re-enactment featuring the the stepfather on the bike trying to go after her. It doesn't seem like it was a big segement, like Michaela's. I could be wrong, but I don't remember watching AMW very often....it didn't hold my interest like UM did.

What an amazing case this is though....tragic and sad as well. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a good number (maybe not the majority by far) of cases like this that we don't know about that are truely still alive but in situations like hers. I wonder if Anthonette Cayedito is one of them...or Michaela, Ilene Mischelloff.....so many others. It shows that you can truly never give up hope.

I remember it too. I'm not one the the U.M. "experts" either. With so many shows on now though, it's hard to remember which one it was on. I do know that I never watched much of AMW.

I think it may have been mentioned in this episode. I seem to recall it. I-80 runs right past Lake Tahoe which is where Dugard was abducted. My impression is that she wasn't profiled in-depth and was only briefly mentioned along with several other girls.

Amber Swartz - In 1988, seven-year-old Amber Swartz vanished in Pinole, California. She is one of at least six young girls who have vanished from the San Francisco area near Interstate 80 over the past 20 years. Is there a serial kidnapper on the loose?

I don't remember seeing Dugard's case on UM. However, it may have been presented as a "special alert" or other brief profile that wasn't shown in syndication.

I believe you are right - it's a later episode which is why I believe a lot of people aren't remembering it. But yeah that is the episode I believe...from memory they show a map and pinpoint where all these girls disappeared. Garecht, Swartz etc. and Dugard is among those listed.

Yep, I never watched AMW either but I do remember Jaycee on UM. Like others have said, not her own segment but a mention in another segment.

I just rewatched my original NBC airing of the Michaela Garecht segment. RS mentions at the end that in the last 5 years 3 other girls were abducted in the SF area but sadly 2 of them were found dead. The one still missing is Amber Swartz and mention more details of her case. Although her body was never found, it recently came to light who her killer was. The original airdate was in '89 which was 2 years before Jaycee was kidnapped.

Like bugnpinky, I actually remember it as a long segment on Jaycee only. Maybe it was a different show.

That's what I've been thinking. That is, if UM ever did a segment related to Jaycee Lee Dugard.

I don't know about UM, but I'm pretty sure she was profiled on America's Most Wanted.
