Starring Will Estes as Eddie Chisholm, a 28-year-old EMT paramedic who has relocated back to his hometown of Chicago after living away in Boston since his college years. Eddie has relocated back home after his eccentric longtime widowed mother, Karen Chisholm (Catherine O'Hara) has remarried 10 years since his police officer dad's tragic death during the line of duty. Karen is remarried to the successful investment banker, Richard Grayson (Jamey Sheridan), who was a divorced single parent to his 21-year-old perky and outgoing daughter, Hannah Grayson (Miriam McDonald) from his previous marriage. Eddie finds himself getting more and more acquainted with his new blended family after getting settled back in town as well as unethically developing feelings for his new stepsister. Also, Eddie is reunited with his old high school best friend, Chad Lewis (Bryan Greenburg) who is now engaged to Eddie's former high school girlfriend, Tiffany Samuels (Rachel McAdams). Tiffany and Eddie ended their relationship the day after their high school graduation since Eddie was leaving to go off to college in Boston, this was 8 months after Eddie's father was shot and killed. Also, Hannah spends her majority of her free time with her two best friends, the sarcastic and outspoken Liz Haven (Jessica Stroup) and the fashion maven and self-named "the best gay best friend ever" Erick Phelps (David Henrie). Watch how Eddie adjusts to having a father figure other than his biological dad, having being around his mother full-time for the first time in past 10 years, learning his best friend is marrying his old flame, and coming to terms about his unethical attraction to his new stepsister. Plus, of course the other trials and tribulations of everyday life that happens to everybody.
