Is this ODD behavior for a 26 year old woman at a job? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

We had a staff meeting today and the boss was TEARING US APART and threatening us and sayin we need to step it up. All of a sudden one of my coworkers gets up and starts crying and runs out the meeting?????????????????????????

Can we all say this at the sametime-"WEIRDO!!!!!!-lol!

I've been brought to tears quite a few times on the job, but I always waited until I got home and no one could see or hear me cry. She sounds like she needs to toughen up a little and your boss sounds like he needs better management skills.

I have coworkers in the past do stuff like that. Maybe she is overly emotional or something. I do think it is a bit odd. But who knows maybe she is going throught some other stressful things in her life.

I've been crying myself to death for almost 24 hours straight over a lot of the crap that's been happening to me lately so I tend to be pretty sympathetic to her. I think the boss is the one with the problem more than anything. Sometimes a person is already in so much pain inside that they can't help it and they can't hold it in for a while until they get home.

Regardless you wait until you go in the bathroom or home not in front of your coworkers because then you start looking like you are not normal.

It is a bit odd, but the boss is more to blame. Just because you have the smallest bit of power, doesn't mean you abuse it. If that was me, he would be in for a rude awakening. It's like my dad used to tell me; you never know who you're messing with. If my boss did that to me, let's say he wouldn't be walking for awhile.

Any boss who takes pride in belittling employees really needs to develop better management skills. Although it may have been unprofessional for this young woman to run out of the room crying, it is unfair to judge her for it. People can't help how they feel and sometimes they can't help getting overly emotional either. It would have been better for her if she could have held it together, but obviously she couldn't and she's the one who will have to deal with the boss over this so I doubt she needs anyone else jumping all over her for making a scene. I feel bad for her actually.

i think you wanted to cry, Solomon, when you saw her crying- lol.

it's normal. people just have no confidence, and bosses scare them. but the poor girl should of waited until she got home. At least people know now that she is uncomfortable at certain times, and knows when to express it lol.

All I can say is I dislike people like your boss. I have had bosses like that. It makes them feel superior when they make others feel inferior. I feel for your her. What did your boss do after she ran out? If he was a good boss he would have had a talk with her.

The boss is a she and she did talk to her but that doesn't mean she still won't write her up if her performance doesn't improve. The Boss has a responsibilty to get rid of weak links on the staff

That's what it is wreckless, she has no confidence in herself-lol I know I can step it up which is why her threats were not bothering me. All the Boss said was-"EVERYBODY STEP IT UP" or you will get WRITTEN UP" and she starts crying-lol

I can see both sides of this. Some people are over emotional and get too upset over the smallest thing. At the same time some bosses are just extremely difficult hard asses that expect way too much out of people.

I can understand her getting upset - but I try to have a long fuse for stuff like this. It's better to wait til you're alone if you can - i wouldn't want to give any creeps the satisfaction of seeing me distraught. I am not my job and my boss's opinion of me is not necessarily the truth. He sounds quite awful & in the end he's going to get what he gives, either thru a lot of turnover or even worse performance.
