Singer John Carter, a member of The Dells and The Flamingos, has died.

The Dells performed at the Daley Center in 2004 shortly after being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. The group got its start in south suburban Harvey in 1953.

Before he joined The Dells, Carter was also a member of another Hall of Fame group, The Flamingos.

Carter is one of just a handful of artists to be inducted into the Hall of Fame twice.

Carter died in Harvey after a battle with lung cancer. He is survived by five daughters and several grandchildren. He was 75

The Dells were one of the few groups to make it from doo wop to soul. They made some good records along the way. RIP.
