Favre to play for Vikings Friday against Chiefs, mom says
By AL JONES

Brett Favre is headed back to the National Football League.

The former three-time MVP in scheduled to land in Minnesota before noon to prepare for his 19th season in the NFL.

Favre, who retired after the 17 seasons with the Packers and again after one with the Jets, is giving it another shot against Green Bay's arch-rival Minnesota.

Brett Favre will be wearing a Vikings uniform on Friday and will see action against Kansas City, according to his mother, Bonita.

"He is going," Bonita Favre, his mom said. "I have mixed emotions, but I have always loved to watch him play. This time, however, I thought he would stay retired and stay home. I guess he could not do it.

"He told me he would always wonder 'what if?' I told him I supported him."

Bonita Favre said he son will work out Wednesday and plans to take a few reps in a preseason home game on Friday against Kansas City. The Vikings are 1-0 after a 13-3 win over Indianapolis last Friday.

"I wanted to go to the game on Friday," she said. "But I said I could not make because I have two baby showers at my house on Saturday. I think playing on Friday was part of the deal."

The Vikings, who are expected to challenge for the NFC Central title, feature running back Adrian Peterson.

"I hope he does not have to do as much," she said. "He should not have to thrown as much with the good running back. That said, I hope he does not have to throw as much and try to make things happen like he usually does.

"They seem to have a good team in place and he liked that. I guess I need to get a Vikings jersey now."

The old geezer just won't quit.

I don't know whether that's admirable or ridiculous.

You think Solomon will be pissed that his favorite QB in the world- Sage Rosenfels- is not going to be the starter?

When Favre returns to Lambeau as a member of the Vikings, it may remind me of when Terrell Owens played his first game in Philadelphia as a Dallas Cowboy in 2006- it was a big deal amid the idea of a player joining a blood rival.

Are there any possible similarities between these two?

So does this mean Sage Rosenfels is not starting?

I don't know. Favre was never a bad teammate like T.O. was and he did bring that city it's only championship since Lombardi. On the other hand the city is divided on the way he left the team and when a star player goes to a division rival like that it has to hurt.
