Post Then & Now Meredith Baxter Birney

Then: Meredith Baxter Birney

With, interestingly, the same birthday as TV husband Michael Gross, Meredith Baxter Birney started portraying mother Elyse Keaton on "Family Ties"at age 35. Elyse was an independent architect and feminist mom, frequently clashing with her son's and daughter's more traditional views of family.

Now: Meredith Baxter

Now divorced, Meredith Baxter, 62, is a staple of the TV movie circuit. She's been nominated for Emmys for her portrayals in such Lifetime classics as "A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story," and "Other Mothers." She has been divorced three times, and currently raises money through her skin care line for breast cancer research.

I saw Betty recently in an old movie called "My Sister Eileen". She was a great song and dance performer! It's she shame she never became a bigger star in movies. She certainly had the talent!

She looks horrible! She hasn't aged well at all. She looks like she stayed out in the sun a lot &/or smoked. Woah!

The last thing I saw about her was on the cover of some magazine w/ her saying that she's gay. I wouldn't doubt it.

Well cheers for her for not falling into the current thing of blown up lips and Botox cheeks! Aging is a genetic thing. Some lucky people age gracefully(like Linda Gray). I am glad that she didn't get into all of that cosmetic surgery crap. Some of those celebrities look downright scary and deformed!

impressive I'm posting this question just out of general curiosity. How many UM cases took place in the great state of Iowa? I've been living and going to school out here for the past 5 years. For some reason, I don't remember a lot of stories occurring out here.

Meredith is currently appearing in a commercial for a cell phone company, and I think she looks fine in it. That's just a really bad photo it seems to me -- she looks MUCH better on film.

This reminds me of what some "fans" did to Avril Lavigne -- they came up with the worst photos of her ever taken, while actually Avril still looks good. I appreciate seeing this, and I'm not saying it's malicious at all, but again I think it's just a good example of a bad photo.

I think the picture is ok. I didn't realize it looked bad.

I forgot how beautiful she was in her "FAMILY" days, and Family ties too. She did admit she was Gay. She even appeared in an Episode of "What About Brian" As Dina's (Amanda Detmer's) Mother. A woman who was Gay and I am not sure if that was her first TV appearance as a Lesbian. But I understand she is a very nice woman.
