When you moved out of your parents house? And how much money did you have to your name?

I was 26 when I moved out. I didn't have a lot of money to my name but I was working sio I had a regular paycheque coming in and I had roomates which helped.

I'm 22 and I'm still living at my parents' house. A lot of my friends moved away and into the dorms for college, but I've always been living at home.

I was 20 when I moved out. I had about $3,000 in savings when I moved out.

I was 23 when I moved out. (Of course, somebody mentioned college, and I stayed in the dorms then, albeit only from sophomore-senior year; I went to the local campus at Miami University's Hamilton campus for my first year before going to the main campus in Oxford.)
As for how much I had, I don't remember, but I was pulling in a good enough paycheck for it not to be a concern. |

I was 18. I had no money saved up, but I did have a job. I was also going to college. I did just fine. Of course, before I moved out my dad made me pay rent and half the bills so I was used to it.

If there was a Sitcoms Online award for "the most lame member" I think I would win it.
I turned 33 last week and I still live at home. Mind you, I was all ready to move out last March but could not becuae I started to fear I was going to be laid off...which happened. I know two members of my graduating class that live near me who also still live at home (one with a kid) but they are only 32. Next year at this time I am going to be on my own even if I have to live with six rooomates!

I was 21 when I moved out. My mom was living with this guy who was a total jackass and I think at that point it was the best thing for me to move out. My dad helped me with my rent and stuff by giving me checks every month, but I was working as well. I moved across town and my apartment was actually closer to my grandparents house than my mom's house was. That was really cool because I got to see them more often.

Ironically, since my father passed away, my mother has moved in with me. She drives me insane and I really wish she had the money to take care of herself so she could live on her own. It makes me feel guilty to think that way though because I love my mom and she lives on disability so she really can't take care of herself financially or physically. I feel like I am back in highschool, taking care of everyone for little to no appreciation.

Have fun with your six roommates Mike!Seriously though, I have a friend who is almost 34 and he lives at home with his parents. He has a professional career too, and makes decent money. He could easily have moved out before now but doesn't because it is easier to stay at home. At least you want to move out and are making the effort. I don't think it is lame that you are staying with your parents until you get back on your feet financially and have a stable job. You worry too much! Of course I understand the desire to be on your own, so I wish you luck with that!!! |
