Default So I've read all the reviews...

I was going over the reviews here of all the sets. It sounds like the sets are generally good...but there was the lack of specials and edited eps. in Season 5. So questions: 1) Is it worth pursuing all the BV sets? or...2) Could I do better? And 3) Any hookup with the complete versions of those S5 episodes, and 4) Has anyone ever made their own faux-Special Features DVD compilation? (i.e. a collection of GG related clips and whatnot)

I know that the edited eps. on S5 aren't exactly a selling point, but they never bothered me. And aside from the first couple seasons, the extras are pretty good. I like having access to all the eps. whenever I want, esp. on the seasons that ARE uncut. Syndication really does chop them up sometimes. I would recommend buying them, but that's just me. I'm a die-hard GG fan, so I can't exactly claim to be impartial.

Thanks as always, Mary Friend!

Anyone else care to chime in?

I doubt this will be helpful to you at all but I bought the seasons separately. I like most of the special features included. Although I wish they would have included other or perhaps left some out. But I am quite happy having bought each season separately.

Everyone's opinion is helpful in its own way! I know what you mean; I'd probably like the later specials with the actual ladies involved. For instance, I am not a fan of Joan Rivers, so even if that WAS good I wouldn't watch it ;-)

Anyway, I am actually all about having pristine versions of the shows archived on DVD first and foremost. If there's good bonuses, nice. But the important part is having good copies of the episodes.

Definitely buy the DVDs. To be honest, there are only a handful of episodes in season 5 that are edited. In those cases, only a maximum of 30 seconds has been cut. BV said that the original masters were not in good condition, so they figured it'd be better if they just deleted the parts where the visual/audio quality deteriorated, and move on. There are people who have the original NBC episodes recorded, so they can chime in.
