Wish me luck everyone - I'm getting a new computer - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

The hard drive on my Dell tower went bust and so I'm w/o for time being and renting time at this nice community ctr near me. Once you have a computer and you lose it it feel like you're back 100 yrs in time. Well I don't too much abt computers but I've been asking my friends who are tekkies & they say Windows Vista is horrid. And I have a few games I want to load onto a PC and they won't work on a Mac. So I've decided on a netbook since I surf the net more than anything else. I don't do too much typing so I can probably get by with the software they have for typing & spreadshts. I still have all my peripherals so I can hook some up to enhance my experience. Hope to hv a compute soon because it really sucks have to wonder all over the place to use one. And I'm getting very tempted to sign onto SO @ work which would be a no-no. I'm hoping to have it Mon.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas just let me know.

Woo-hoo! Congrats on getting a new computer! Ugh, it's so weird without one, right? I wish I had some advice to give, but I'm not exactly skilled with computers. I was thinking of purchasing a netbook a couple of months ago, to take to school with me for note taking. They're don't weigh as much as laptops so they're great to carry around. A friend told me they have longer battery life as well, compared to laptops. Do you know what brand you are getting? Congrats again!

I am so happy I finally got rid of my old Gateway desktop in the Spring and got a HP laptop. I love not being tied down to a desk!

Congrats on the new computer. My friend has a netbook she uses for downtime at her job and she says the only bad thing about netbook is that her fingers get cramped because of the keyboard.

Good luck with your new computer. I got my new MacBook Pro last month and I'm really loving it. I don't think I'll ever go back to Microsoft/Windows.
