Question Will Susan Lucci Stay on All My Children? She Says 'There is alot to think About'

It's not like she has to cross the wild prairie to get there, but for Susan Lucci the idea of moving west with her daytime drama All My Children is a overwhelming.

"We just found out a day and a half ago, and we've been dancing a marathon at All My Children ever since," the actress, 62, told PEOPLE at Thursday's New York City Feed the Children's Daytime Gives Back event. "So, we're all walking around in shock."

What's Lucci's game plan for moving from New York (where AMC stops filming in December) to Los Angeles (where it starts up again Jan. 4)? "I don't know ... I love the show and I love playing Erica [Kane]," says the Scarsdale native who even went to college in New York. "But I'm just now going to have a couple of days off. It's a lot to think about."

I don't blame Susan... it is a great deal to think about. I don't really like the idea of AMC relocating to LA. I've always been a fan of the soaps that tape in New York City. The actors aren't as pampered in NYC, they actually live and work in The City and it keeps you grounded and more authentic, in my opinion. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, as there will only be two soaps taping in New York (One Life to Live & As the World Turns) after AMC moves out west and with the cancellation of Guiding Light. The future of soaps continues to be very, very bleak...

If Susan Lucci leaves AMC, you may as well stick a fork in the show. One of only 2 original cast members, she is one of the all-time recognizable soap faces. For many, she IS AMC.

Plus the only other original cast member, Ray MacDonnell (Dr. Joe Martin) is 81 years old. It's pretty doubtful he'll make the big move. Soap Opera Digest has already said that Walt Willey (Jackson Montgomery, who has been on the show for over 20 years) will probably not be going out to LA, either.

Wow, I hadn't heard about AMC moving from NYC to LA! That's quite a change, and it would be a lot to think about. That's a huge move! I remember going to the AMC studios in NYC back in 1982. I didn't go in, but I was a huge fan of the show at the time, so my dad took my picture in front of it. We even walked around back and found all these props and stuff! I wish I could scan that picture, because it was all printed with notes, like "Erika Kane's chair". How cool is that? I can't even remember how we found all that stuff! I had completey forgotten about it until just now!

Cool

Apparently ABC already has a plan B in place in case Susan decides not to move to the west coast. Their plan is to hire two former superstar divas to headline the show in her place. They would play newly created characters. And who are these divas? The rumor is that they are none other than Deidre Hall (ex Marlena on Days of Our Lives) and Genie Francis (ex Laura on General Hospital).

^ I didn't know Genie Francis was back out west (last I heard, she and her family were still living in Maine). It would be interesting to see Dee Hall back on TV, but AMC just wouldn't be AMC without Susan/Erica. It would be a whole different show.
