Man, I loved this show when I was kid. I just wish it was still in reruns. I wonder who has the rights? Is it available on video?
I have a few episodes taped. One in particular I call the "Sleep Teaching" episode, where Bob gets his tapes mixed up when trying to learn Swedish, I think, to impress a girl and learns German instead. What a crackup! I always thought this show was underrated - Bob Cummings did a great job doubling as Grandpa, the plots were always funny, Chuck (Dwayne Hickman) was trying to be a young Bob with the girls, who were gorgeous (wonder what they look like now?), etc etc. If anyone knows where I can buy more episode tapes, please let me know! |

This is probably my all-time favorite show. They used to air it on local TV station 39, but it's probably been 10 years since I've seen it broadcast. I did see one accidentally broadcast complete in its original form: 'The Bob Cummings Show', complete with Winston cigarette sponsorship messages at the beginning and end of the show!
What irks me is that most of the ones I have seen, I have seen at least 3 or 4 times, yet I know I have seen less than half the episodes! Wish I could see more of 'em. I've always been puzzled why this show, very popular in its time, has not done better in syndication or been more fondly remembered. Ciao, Richard |

Actually, the show did well in reruns, where its name was changed to Love That Bob (for whatever reason).
