Default Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) SPEAKS OUT! Feels ‘Disrespected'

After Grapevine ran an item Thursday about People magazine's "Saved by the Bell" reunion cover and the suspicious absence of Dennis "Mr. Belding" Haskins and Dustin "Screech" Diamond , we were surprised to get a phone call that night from Haskins himself. (We validated it was indeed him by asking him to say, "Hey, hey, hey, what is going ON here?") Haskins says he knew about the People shoot six weeks ago, but felt "disrespected" and "disappointed" that he was not asked to be a part of it. "I earned the right to be there," said Haskins, an original "Bell" cast member who stayed with the show even during the wobbly "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" years. "If anybody deserved to be on that cover, it was Dennis Haskins." He's got a point: It was Haskins himself who first appeared on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" earlier this year and spearheaded the movement to get the "SBTB" cast to reunite on Fallon's show, sparking interest in a cast meet-up. Haskins says he still hopes to participate in the Fallon reunion, should it come about, but is miffed over the People slight. "I want people to know it was not my choice not to be there, because I would have been there," said Haskins, on the phone from Las Vegas. "For People magazine to exclude me on purpose doesn't make sense to me. It hurts my feelings, but I'll live." Fight on, Mr. B! Here is the link:

Cool

Dennis Haskins definitely should have been a part of the people magazine photo shoot and article. And unlike Dustin Diamond, I'm sure the rest of the cast would have welcomed Dennis with open arms.

As a matter of fact the article I read said the five agreed to it only if they excluded Screech and the "creepy Dennis Haskins." I was like, why creepy?

Well, he does make an awkward and inappropriate comment about the "underage" girls on SbtB "starting to develop cleavage" or something like that on one of the DVD commentaries, but otherwise I haven't a clue what the issue is here. I agree it's a bit disrespectful not to include him when he so clearly wants to be involved. This guy spent 13 years playing Mr. Belding. He definitely earned his right to be included.

I do understand why Diamond was left out though, as he's really just an idiot and a scumbag, but it still doesn't seem like a true reunion without "Screech" there.

I have a feeling the comment about Mr. Belding being "creepy" was a joke that got taken out of context or was misunderstood.

Dennis Haskins is old, fat and parties in Hollywood socialites like the Hills cast, the Hiltons and Brody Jenner. That is def. creepy. I don't get why everyone is jumping on the normal four... be grateful that we at least got something resembling a reunion.

Plus, do we really want to see him on the cover of People?

I wouldn't have cared for him on the cover but they should have a mini interview with him and a picture with the cast inside in the magazine.

That's a shame that they didn't include him. After all he was the principal of Bayside!

Exactly... he was just the principal. It was weird enough seeing him chill on top of Zack's bed.

He was really seen that much so I don't see why he needed to be included on the cover.

Mr. Belding was

Ralph the Doorman on the Jeffersons
Mike the Bartender on Three's Company
Al on Happy Days
Mr. Defazio on Laverne and Shirley

Doesn't everyone see my point?
