Default Adam + eHarmony = Depression

I'm a lonely guy. I've never had a girlfriend, though I've always wanted one. I'm just too shy in person to go up to a girl and start a conversation. So I never get the chance to, you know, marry any of them.

I finally decided to give eHarmony a chance. I spent a good hour answering all their questions. And I'm serious. It really took me an hour, maybe a tad longer. Anyways, when I was done, they told me that they can't find any matches for me. I'm in the 20% that they can't help find a partner.

So now whenever I see an eHarmony commercial, it mocks me.

Someone at work joked with me saying it's time I got a Mail Order Bride, lol.

Hang in there, Adam. Someone once told me there's a lid for every pot, you will find yours.

I say never quit. Try another online dating service. There are several out there.

Oh No

I tried it too, but I'm STILL single!

To me...getting a girl is like Cleveland winning a Championship.

I'll be single forever! I'd like to have a girl, but I don't either.

I personally would never do online dating. The idea of online dating sounds degrading to me. I technically have never had a girlfriend either. You'll find someone eventually. I tell myself that regularly.

Confused

THEY can't find you a match?? What in the world?? I'm with eHarmony. I would just like to know where they get that idea you're "unmatchable".
If there was some way you responded to the questions, etc., but wow, there are so many variables. I can't see why they'd say they can't match you up with anyone.

Hang in there, Adam! You come across as a sweet, funny, likable guy. Heck, if you lived close to me, I'd be begging you to take me out on a date

I was told, when you're looking you won't find that special person. It's when you're not looking.

Adam--are you sure you like girls? I find it odd that anyone could be that shy. Maybe your standards are too high. When I was a kid I wanted to marry Elizabeth Montgomery (Samantha Stevens) or Penny Singleton (Blondie Bumstead) it didnt happen LOL

That is so odd that they can't match you. Ridiculous! Maybe you can try some other dating website, like match.com? Also, maybe you and a friend can try speed dating. Google it and see if your town has any special events coming up. I've heard that you have to pay because they provide drinks and food/snacks, but it might be worth checking out with someone-plus, you never know who you'll meet.

Eh, I'm too something to have a boyfriend either (shy being one thing, but there are 100 other reasons). I'll be alone forever.

Not that makes you feel any better, but at least you're not the only one. I feel like I'm the only one a lot. I told my mom once that society expects people to partner off by a certain time and I've probably past that time. She went at me, but society is like that! Society also shuns the shy or the introverted. I'm both, so I'm screwed.

That's how I've felt all these years. And that's why I started this thread by stating that I'm lonely. So because of that and my inability to go up and actually talk to girls, I figured I'd go for it. Actually it was a friend's suggestion, but my reasons for going are still the same.

That's why I like the episode of Taxi where Latka can't get that woman at Mario's to go out with him. He goes on vacation and comes back with a completely new personality, Vic Ferrari. Maybe, I should try that, lol.

As for my standards, that's a possibility. I mean lonely or not I don't want to go out with just anybody.
