Katee Sackoff Joins Vin Diesel's "Riddick"
Twohy Talks R-rated Riddick Return, New Ridley Scott Produced Horror!
Saturday, August 1, 2009 By: Jeff Otto Bloody-Disgusting is on top of their game this morning as we not only got Milla Jovovich to break the news that she will be toplining Resident Evil: Afterlife, but we also got David Twohy to spill the beans on his newly planned R-rated spin-off to Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, along with details on the Ridley Scott produced supernatural thriller Crying Havoc. Read on for the skinny and check out A Perfect Getaway in theaters August 7th. During an exclusive interview with Bloody-Disgusting this morning, David Twohy confirmed that he and Vin Diesel are indeed discussing a RIDDICK sequel and they are hoping to find a way to return to the R-rated origins of the series. "I’ve sketched out two ideas for continuing "RIDDICK", one of which Vin and I have settled in on," Twohy tells BD. "At the studio level, it would have to be a PG-13 movie again and we don’t want to do that again. We want an R, so we are looking at the possibility of setting it up as an independent movie and selling it territory by territory and thereby keeping an ownership stake in the movie. But we’re trying to see what that would yield in this unsafe market..." "So we’re trying to figure out what that number is and if we can make the movie that we want to make for that number. It’s a complicated formula." If the stars should align just right financially for a RIDDICK sequel, Twohy says he’d be up for going into production as early as 2010. "It could be my next movie. I know Vin’s going to slide in "XXX" first. He’s doing a sequel to that the first of the year. So the soonest we could launch would be sometime next year." Twohy has also finished another script for a thriller that could go next. "[My next movie] could be a supernatural thriller called "CRYING HAVOC" that Ridley Scott would produce and I would direct. It’s about an FBI agent who uses technology to track a spy across the world only to learn that the spy is more of a demon than a man. That chase leads our FBI agent into the lower circles of hell, at least psychologically speaking. I think it’s a very cool supernatural thriller with a lot of great visuals to it. That’s already written and that could pop next. Ridley has been shepherding that project along." Either way, RIDDICK remains close to Twohy’s heart. He encouraged by the fan enthusiasm for the project and hopes he gets the chance to continue that series soon. "I get a lot of e-mail about "RIDDICK"," says Twohy. "I think there’s an audience for it, but you never know. I’ve probably gotten two thousand e-mails on it, but if only two thousand people show up at the theater, you know? But we think about it, we think about it a lot." We’ll have more from Twohy on his latest thriller, A PERFECT GETAWAY, next week. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/16949 |

David Twohy and Vin Diesel Reteam for Darker Riddick
Friday, February 12, 2010 By: MrDisgusting Joining with the subtle titled films of the 00's, Universal Pictures has officially announced Riddick, the third film in the Pitch Black / Chronicles of Riddick franchise. Vin Diesel is officially signed on to star and produce, confirming early teases by the star via Facebook. David Twohy -- who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick -- will helm from a screenplay he penned. Plot details are being kept under wraps but insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit Pitch Black and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the critically panned Chronicles of Riddick. Still, Chronicles of Riddick earned $116 million worldwide and spawned a successful vidgame series. Twohy most recently wrote and directed A Perfect Getaway. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19074 |

It's Riddick Versus Trisons & More in Third Film
Source: The Hollywood Reporter February 16, 2010 Since David Twohy went "big" story-wise with The Chronicles of Riddick - by turning a cool survival/creature feature into a galactic mythology - I think it's fair to say a lot of Pitch Black fans are looking for a return to form with the long-mooted third chapter. For some time, Shock has heard we'd be seeing more of a creature element in the next film and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that today with the following plot crunch: Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script features the character -- the most wanted man in the galaxy -- left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with "trisons" (three-legged bisons) and "mud demons." He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=14152 |

Vin Diesel Updates Riddick Status
Friday, March 5, 2010 By: MrDisgusting Vin Diesel updated his Facebook page this weekend with some really good news regarding Riddick, the 3rd film in the Pitch Black franchise. Apparently, David Twohy is still working on the screenplay. Why is this good? Buzz around Bloody Disgusting is that the earlier draft wasn't so good (yikes). "Heard from DT over the weekend. He is very excited about how well Europe went, and is delivering the next draft of the "Riddick" script this month. Nice," he explains adding that maybe we'll get to see some early concept art! "P.S. Will be talking to DT next week, maybe he can let me show some concept art of "Riddick"... Peace." The script features the character -- the most wanted man in the galaxy -- left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with "trisons" (three-legged bisons) and "mud demons." He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles. http://www.facebook.com/VinDiesel http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19368 |

Early Concept Art from Next Riddick Adventure!
Thursday, April 8, 2010 By: MrDisgusting Action star Vin Diesel updated his Facebook page with a look some super early concept art from Riddick, where he'll reprise his role as the title character for the third time. The image below teases, "The Furian... left for dead..." with Diesel explaining that it's the "first frame of a 2D Motion Choreography Study." David Twohy returns to bring the franchise back in a dark direction. No word on when it would go in to production. www.facebook.com/VinDiesel http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19758 |

The Official Plot Synopsis for Riddick
Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor May 7, 2010 Soon, writer-director David Twohy and star Vin Diesel will begin rolling Riddick - a tentative title, we presume, but a welcome change after an early script review reported it was called "The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking". Now that we've got our mitts on an official synopsis, the latter moniker is apropos. Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction. Patrick Tatopoulos has been designing creatures for the third film in Twohy's Riddick trilogy. More to come... http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=15109 |

Diesel to Tranform Himself for Next Riddick Film
Source: Vin Diesel December 21, 2010 Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page a few hours ago to talk about the latest progress on Riddick, the third film to feature the character first introduced in Pitch Black. "So the director of Riddick, my partner on COR since the beginning, DT...has a new challenge in store. He wants me to have 3 different body looks for this next chapter... There is the DiNorscio type, the Dom type, and the lean Furyan type... but all in the same movie, haha..." writes Diesel. "DT" is his reference to writer-director David Twohy. And DiNorscio is Diesel's reference to Giacomo "Jackie Dee" DiNorscio who the actor played in Find Me Guilty. Physically, there's a slight difference so we get what Diesel is saying there. But really, what's the difference between "Dom" and "Furyan"? More bulk than what Diesel already has? Sounds like momentum is building on the threequel. http://www.facebook.com/VinDiesel http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=17541 |

Twohy, Diesel Talk Riddick Sequel
Source: Vin Diesel's Facebook March 7, 2011 Vin Diesel updated his Facebook followers with a new video that reveals little, but ensures that progress on Riddick, the chapter to follow Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick continues. Writer-director David Twohy makes an appearance and states Riddick will be similar to Pitch Black in relation to the size of the budget (that, in turn will help maintain an R rating). "We're gonna be lean and we're going to go quick and it's going to be a cool movie, I can tell you that," Twohy adds. http://www.facebook.com/VinDiesel http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=18329 |

Money, R-rating Cause of Riddick Holdup
Tuesday, May 24, 2011 By: MrDisgusting Straight off the monstrous success of Fast Five, star Vin Diesel is hoping to go strap on his goggles for a third sci-fi adventure as "Riddick" in The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, which would lens this summer -- on one condition. The producers are asking the action star to take a huge pay cut in order for director David Twohy to fulfill his R-rated wishes. "D T the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer," says Diesel via Facebook. "However, there is a catch... in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the "Find me Guilty" experience (which I wouldn't have changed for the world)... Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit... but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place... called Riddick." http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/24722 |

Now It's Twohy Giving Us a Riddick Update
Source: David Twohy June 1, 2011 The last we heard about Riddick - which wasn't that long ago - Vin Diesel was mulling over whether or not he should take a pay cut to return for a third film. The pay cut would allow the film, written and directed by David Twohy, to maintain its budget an R rating. Twohy has now taken to his blog to chime in. "The hurdles seem to be dropping. The final turn is being rounded. The finish line (actually a starting line) seems closer than ever," he writes, adding now is the time to make Riddick. And if it doesn't happen now, you can probably kiss the sequel good-bye. The rest of his blog entry reads more like a fan "call to arms" as he urges followers of Riddick to speak out and demand a new film. Says Twohy, "Yeah, I had some good face-time with Vin in NYC. We talked at length about where we go from here – about how to travel to all the places in the RIDDICK universe that needed travelling to – and we think we know have the Master Map. We’ll keep it tucked tightly in our breast pocket for now, but it’s enough to say that, if we can pull it all off, you’ll have spent a good 15 years with us. But Vin will be the driving force behind this next movie; I’m merely the writer-director. Am I being facetious? Kinda. But kinda not, too: It’s Vin and the concessions he chooses to make that will allow this movie to go forward. And his love of the character, of course. So if you, too, have a soft spot for this hardened criminal, you might want to weigh in over at that giant-ass Facebook page he’s got. Me? I’m still part of the Facebook Resistance." The director cooked up the below image, entitled "The Fifth Horseman," to generate more excitement in Diesel. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...s.php?id=19432 |

Katee Sackoff Joins Vin Diesel for Riddick
by Ryan Turek January 09, 2012 Riddick, the third film in David Twohy's series about the titular anti-hero, has found its female lead. Deadline reports that Katee Sackhoff has signed on for the part of Dahl, a Nordic mercenary on Riddick's tail. The plot finds Riddick (Diesel) betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet where he fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction. Sackhoff is best known for her role on "Battlestar Galactica". Variety adds Jordi Molla (Colombiana) is also circling and is in talks to play the villain. http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...el-for-riddick |
