Exclamation Mark-Paul Gosselaar Talks About Dustin Diamond

1) Why is Dustin Diamond missing on the cover of People? Gosselaar says he hasn't talked to him recently, and they're no longer close. "That's a disaster on so many levels," he says of Diamond's problems (he owes $14,000 in taxes and starred in a sex tape). "I don't know where his head is. I know probably as much as you know from watching things on TV. It's as entertaining as hell. I watch it. But it's not great."

(2) Is he worried that Diamond is writing a Saved by the Bell tell-all book? Apparently not. "What is he going to say?" Gosselaar asks. "We were banging groupies at 14? I can't wait to read his book, because I don't have a memory of a lot of the shows. Maybe it was because I was doing lines off of the audience members' asses. I'm sure he's going to write something crazy like that. The truth is─the reason why the show worked and why it's still on today─we were good people and good to each other. We were innocent, naive kids. We were not jaded. So him writing a book, I'm not really afraid of what he has to say. There are not too many skeletons in my closet."

Cool

This reunion would have been the perfect opportunity for Dustin Diamond to start the process of redeeming his public image but of course he failed to capitolize on the opportunity.

I'm almost glad Dustin didn't participate in the reunion. He's such a dumbass these days that he probably would've ruined it. I have no interest in the alleged tell-all book.

I never really liked the character of Screech. He always came across so silly. I mean, no other "school" ensemble had a character as ridiculous as him. Horshack of the Sweathogs was kind of silly but in a good way. I know there always has to be a class clown, but Screech's antics kind of ruined the show for me.

Wow, I'm surprised that Mark was so honest about his feelings for Dustin, but that just tells me that he is serious about his acting and that he's a professional person. He's really done well since leaving SBTB. Probably better than any of the others, with the exception of Mario Lopez, maybe. He's been in two hit TV series and he's proven that he can play dramatic roles. Plus, he's a LOT more handsome than when he was on SBTB!!!

I honestly don't think any of the other cast members would be worried about Dustin writing this book; his credibility isn't that great because of his "tape" and other things he participated in.

I know I've mentioned this two or three times before but I wrote to Mark literally the day after NYPD Blue aired its last episode, and about a month and a half later, he sent me an autographed picture!!!

The "Screech" character was a vital and important part of the show. He is the most quotable, I'll even say, memorable character. I appreciate Dustin's work on Saved by the Bell, it's part of TV history. But I'm with the cast and the majority on this one, I'm glad he's not part of the current reunion and 20th anniversary celebrations or plans. He has a tarnished reputation and considering his personality, he would have sullied the positive atmosphere of a lot of these things by creating drama.

Has anyone heard some of his commentary on the SBTB DVD's. He's so annoying. He had a "holier than thou" attitude at times... abandoning a comment mid-air.... "Ugh, never mind." But the DVD company is responsible for this too... they should have edited this.

Plain simple... the guy is annoying.

Mark-Paul's quote is one of the funniest things I've read in a while... "doing lines of coke off audience members asses"!!! Hahaha.

I'm also glad that Dustin didn't participate in the reunion. I like the Screech character but Dustin is an ass. I do feel a bit sorry for him because he was never able to get any acting roles outside of STSB. I started to dislike him when he did Celebrity Fit Club. He was jerk on that show to Kim Locke and he called her a loser and then later she said he was loser because of his financial problems.
I think his tell-all book will probably be filled with mostly lies. Like Mark Paul said there is nothing much Dustin could write about.

I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD but there is any commentary. I will be getting the other seasons soon on DVD. I'll probably listen to Dustin's commentary for laughs.
