Default Today's childrens cartoons are AWFUL!

Do you agree?

I think that the 80's and early 90's had the best children cartoons of all time. Have you seen what kids growing up with today? They're very ugly and irritating to watch.

80's and 90's:

Here are a few exapmles.

He Man And The Masters Of The Universe

The Real Ghostbusters

The Legend Of Zelda

Denver, The Last Dinosaur.

Jem And The Holograms

These shows were great, and I watched them when I was little. And they had it's own story.
A lot of the 80's/90's series was about people saving the world, for exapmle He Man, She Ra. etc.
And they looked like real cartoon humans.

Today's cartoons shows:

Phineas & Pherb.
This show is terrible, and can you actually believe this is Disney's latest cartoon?

The show is about... NOTHING! 2 brothers is sitting under a tree and one say: What you wanna do today? I know let's build a roller coaster". And that's about it. VERY BORING, I mean, it's not exciting.

The Replacements.

Also Disney. About 2 kids who replace someone they don't like.

When children back in the days was watching He Man, they'd say like: "Wow, I wanna be like him, he's a hero."

But now, when they're watching this Phineas & Pherb crap, they don't learn anything. It's not like they're saying "Let's build a roller coaster in our backyard."

They do not look like humans, they're doodles!

This is my opinion, and it's hard to believe it's made by Disney who used to do such great shows such as Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin.

I'm so happy I grew up with those 80's and 90's cartoons.

Thumbs up

i agree. i grew up in the 80s, 90s and there were so many great cartoons:
he-man, thundercats, alvin and the chipmunks, real ghostbusters, johnny bravo, muppet babies to name but many. but now what do we have? crap that's what!

cartoons are a joke these days- the characters have zero appeal, the storylines are boring and the theme songs are well, forgetable. and yet when it comes to cartoons, all people talk about is the simpsons and family guy. the simpsons is nowhere as good as it first came out, whilst as for family guy-i just couldnt stand that cartoon- i find that show bloody awful to be quite honest. it is so sad.

sad to say this, but cartoons died towards the early half of 2000 onwards.

I don't know if they're still doing it with today's cartoons, but one trend that began in the days while I was still watching Saturday morning cartoons was that each show had to have a moral or a lesson. And it got worse and more dumbed down as I got older. Fortunately, I grew out of those cartoons with my teenage years and discovered HBO!

Today's cartoons are sh*t.

Also do they even show cartoons on Saturday mornings anymore?? About a year ago I was having some work done on my car on a Saturday morning and one of the mechanics turned on the TV on our local NBC affilliate and they were showing some teenage TV show, it was the same with most of the other channels. The mechanic responded "whatever happend to bugs bunny"?

Yeah! They're awful! None of today's cartoons has not any message, they're pointless.

It was fantastic to get up every morning just to watch the cartoons, and when I see them today, it feels the same.

The kids today who actually like that, can't be very bright.

I'm listening to these great, awesome theme songs that we saw on TV back in the days, they were so good then!

Cool

I agree today's cartoons are awful. I much prefer the cartoons of the 60's and 70's that I grew up with.

also, have you noticed the characters in the 80s and 90s shows were better drawn and animated. whereas with todays cartoons, it is like there is hardly any effort that is being put in at all? thank goodness for you tube that we can watch the classics. much better than the crap that is being offered to us at the moment on tv.

I can't agree more!

Let's compare two cartoons...."Garfield and Friends"....and "Chowder".

Sure, "Chowder" is successful, but it won't last for 7 seasons unlike "Garfield". And soon..."Chowder" may be gone as well.

Longevity was something that cartoons had, these cartoons today don't have that!...Unless it's "Spongebob" or "The Simpsons", where you want those damn shows off, but they never will!

What I'm upset about is...these children will NEVER see the cartoons that we saw (and that includes Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry).

Exactly! That's what I meant that they looked real and today's cartoons looks crap. Children's TV today in general is crap, all of these Disney comedy shows are making kids crazy, and they probably don't know anything about the time before their time.

Saturday mornings in the 70's used to be like sacred time for kids my age; the networks really treated them respectfully and catered to the kid audience.

We had things like NEW cartoons on Thanksgiving morning and a full hour (I think) devoted to "sneak peeks" the Friday night before the fall Saturday morning premieres of new and returning shows.

Some of the cartoons were great, some not so great. But I do think that most of them were at least "fun" shows; now we seem to have so many shows that are cynical in their attitude, and I don't think that's very positive for kids. Also there's this phenomenon of making 'adult' cartoons like "Family Guy" and "South Park" but kids are tuning in to them. I think it's great to have shows that cater to all ages but I fear that some of the satire and meaning of the 'adult' shows are lost on kids. I doubt for instance that Mike Judge meant to have "Beavis and Butthead" come off as heroic or admirable but most kids I know that loved that show thought they were "cool".

It's like putting "Playboy" magazine in its own special place at the bookstore as opposed to putting it right next to the comic books where kids are accessing it. I don't believe in any censorship but let's put things in their proper perspective and at least try to think about the effect its having on the youngest, and most vulnerable, of our society.

Saturday morning cartoons in the 70's were really special. I remember those Friday night previews they had every year. I used to get up at about 5am on Saturdays just to watch my shows. My Parents were still in bed. lol
