Question Do you have a prayer list, or do you just go by memory??

This is a question for all those who pray, and who believe in the power of prayer. Up until recently I went strictly by memory. I have a great memory when it comes to saying prayers, but lately the number has become so large that I've needed to make a list to keep track of everyone, and their particular requests. It's so satisfying to have a prayer list, and finish your prayers for everyone. Don't know about you all, but it just gives me a happy feeling. Another thing I always try to do is immediately say a prayer upon request. I do this because that person may need the prayers badly, and I want to make sure not to put it off, but give it the priority that it deserves. Anyway, do any of you have prayer lists, or do you just try and go by memory?

I pray for my family and our pets every night. I also often pray for friends. A couple of people here at SO who often are in my prayers include Billie, Kimberlee, Mattie, Cathy and Jenny. You've also been in my prayers a few times, Brad, as have other members.

Once I see a prayer request here I pray over it and then at night I think over the requests and pray over them.

I do the same thing. I'll sometimes be sitting there watching tv or whatever, and suddenly a person's prayer need will come to me, and I'll pray right then and there. This actually happens to me alot throughout the course of the day. I think sometimes God puts it on my heart to prayer for specific people at specific moments.

I'm ashamed to say that I only pray when I'm scared about something; like when I found out my mom has breast cancer or if my husband is having health problems. I always pray when I'm in an airplane and we are either about to take off or land. I'm not really religious, as I've mentioned in other threads, but I should pray more often. Makes me seem selfish to pray only occasionally when it suits me.

I don't pray as often as I should but, when I do pray it's by memory. A list would probably be better.

I am not saying this about anybody here, but I find it interesting whene people who are aiethiest and want nothing to do with God, when they have a crisis on their hands, they are immedietly praying to God.

Hmmm see a parallel there.

You bring up a great point Mickey, and I too have thought about this many times. I know alot of people look at this as hypocrisy, and they may be right, but I still truly rejoice in my heart when I see a person who may not be too Religious, or those who aren't at all Religious coming to God in their time of need. I think it's a good sign, and I always pray extra hard for people like this that their prayers get answered so that they'll see that God truly is a loving and forgiving God.

What does however upset me, is when someone who is an atheist, or is not Religious starts a prayer thread and God answers many prayers for them, and afterwards they go on continuing trashing, and putting down God despite all He just did for them. I take great exception to that. Those people are the worst kind of hypocrits, and are the kind of people who I have little respect for. I love God so much, and when I see someone use and disrespect Him like that, it truly grieves my heart.
