My pleasure!!
So far, I haven't found any clips of him singing the Phantom songs. I'd so love to hear his versions of "Music of the Night" and "Point of No Return".

Those are great pictures of Robert Guillaume as the Phantom! Thanks for sharing them with us Monika. If you ever find any of those audio files let us know. I'd love to listen to them!

I found something! Check out U-tube and search ""Robert Guilaume + Elizabeth Stack" the sound quality is pretty good, you can hear Bob's amazing voice and the lady's got an excellent set of pipes as well.
Thanks for the great pics!

Here's another clip of RG singing "The Phantom of the Opera", with Dale Kristien as Christine. The sound quality isn't nearly as good as the version with Elizabeth Stack, but it's still worth a listen.
I remember Mr. Guillaume was interviewed on ET a few years back and they mentioned the controversy about him becoming the Phantom. Not only because of his race, but because he was the first actor on Broadway to replace the most famous Phantom, Michael Crawford. He had some mighty big shoes to fill, but he proved his naysayers wrong. Plus, whoever said that the Phantom was white? I think that's one character where race truly does not matter. He spends most of the show in a mask, was rejected, is damaged both in body and spirit. Phantom truly is a universal character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPUTe...eature=related |

Here is a photo of Dale Kristien, who replaced Sarah Brightman on Broadway as Christine. Dale Kristien was previously known for her role in the 1980s as a maid on Days of Our Lives (and was also married for a time to Days star Peter Reckell). Dale Kristien also sang a couple of Phantom songs with Michael Crawford on one of his TV specials in the late 90s.

Thanks for the pictures, Monika! I would LOVE to see "Phantom" on stage, but every time it comes to Seattle, I miss it! I have the movie in my Netflix queue, and I know it's not the same, but at least I can say I've seen a version of it. The movie will probably just make the stage version seem that much better!Andrea |
