Refresh my memory, what season was that from?

If it was from season 5 then that was when Dick York was having the most trouble with his back and missed several episodes.

Ok then I suspect Dick York wasnt on this episode because of the reason I posted above. He missed several episodes during this season. Sadly of course he left the show after this.

Yes, Dick York seriously injured his back filming a movie in the late 50s. The injury got worse and worse as the years went by, so bad that he became addicted to painkillers. The last straw was when he had a seizure filming the episode "Daddy Does His Thing" in late 1968 and was rushed from the Bewitched set to a hospital. His body had given out, and he never would return to the show. Such a sad story, but Dick York never wanted pity and instead spent his remaining years and limited resources helping the homeless and hungry.

That was a pretty sad story and it's too bad he didn't get support from the studio. I seen him in an episode of Fantasy Island and he looked good.

I don't see how Dick York could have received any more support from the studio then he did, if not for that support he would not have been allowed to continue in the role of Darrin for 5 years.

After his collapse he was in a semi-coma & bed ridden state for over a year.
How could any more studio support have been of aid to him staying on the show, if that was what you were referring too.

If it was general support they did not owe him anything once he was off of the show as he was making close to $100,000 a year at that time.

At one point, DY even temporarily moved in with his mother so his kids wouldn't have to see him suffer from the withdrawal of the painkillers. You can read more about it in his posthumously published memoir, The Seesaw Girl & Me.

Yes i read all the Bewitched parts & that, he was simply never professionally functional again, by that point his back was no longer salvageable apparently, it makes one think of Herbie Pilato's comments about him being self destructive, seems as it were so. !

It is really sad as i have heard that he was told that surgery could resolve his back issues shortly after it happened but he refused to have it.......................what might have been

Dick York was replaced by Dick Sargent who played the role of Darrin Stephens in the last three seasons.
