This thread is about how you have had experience with the idea that the customer is NOT always right. For instance, I volunteer at a bingo hall and some of the bingo players are VERY rude. Since it is a volunteer position, if someone is rude enough, I tell them that I am only a volunteer and I tell them to shut their face. For others places like restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, and department stores, some customers do get out of hand when they complain about certain things. They also complain about the littlest things.

Absolutely not! Even as a customer I admit being wrong if I truly am wrong. I worked in retail for years and had to be this "perfect angel" around them in order to keep my job. At my job now, they are a little more lenient. I mean, obviously I don't spend my days yelling at people, but I also don't have to take any crap off of them either. If they are abusive, they could lose their transportation priviledges. All of our phone calls are recorded and every once in a while, we'll get someone who will file a complaint saying that I had done something wrong. But then the call is reviewed and it will show that they are the ones at fault.

I think the customer is right within reason. The customer has the right to be treated with respect, to not be taken advantage of, and to have any problem corrected in a prompt and pleasant manner.
The customer does NOT have the right to be verbally abusive or threatening to employees or other customers or to try to scam businesses out of money or merchandise. I've been on both sides of the counter and I don't think there's any excuse for rudeness on either side, or from society in general. But that's another rant for another time
