Debunking a myth about Jay North - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Jay North's IMDB listing lists him as the son of singer/actor Hal Hopper, a former member of a 1950s music group called the Pied Pipers. Guess what that information is -- WRONG!

As was explained on the "E! True Hollywood Story" episode "Dennis The Menace Revealed: The Jay North Story," Jay is Hal's nephew.

According to Jay's own information in his "E! THS" episode, after Jay's parents, Dorothy and Jay, Sr., divorced, Jay's maternal aunt became his legal guardian.

As Jay soberly admitted on the "E! THS" episode, his aunt regularly abused him when the cameras weren't rolling on "Dennis The Menace."

Thanks for setting the record straight - IMDB has it wrong in Hal Hopper's bio too.

Me too. Definitely not a surprise. They aren't very reliable and their message board posters are horrible!
