Question Do you get along with people easily, or not?

For me it's kind of complicated. I have a really hard time making friends because I'm shy for one, hate crowds for two, and have trust issues three. Even though it's hard for me to make friends, the few true friendships that I do make are usually very strong. As far as my original question is concerned though, once I get to know someone, it's usually easy for me to get along with most of them. It's like I was told the other day, someone said to me that I was a real laid back guy, and am easy to talk to. That made me feel really good. There are certain types of people that I wouldn't even let approach me as friends, but for the most part, I get along with most types of people. Whether it's middle income people, rich people, or poor people, I'm really good at adapting to any situation. You could put me in a crowd with a bunch of millionaires, and I doubt I'd stand out too much, and you could put me in a crowd of homeless people, and I wouldn't stand out much, if at all. My mom's boyfriend has brought alot of interesting people into our lives in the 10 years he's been here, and has really helped in getting me to adapt to all different types of people. What about all of you? Do you get along with most people easily, or not? What types of people do you get along with best/worst??

I get along with people easily. I don't have a hard time meeting people, but I do have a hard time really trusting people. I've been hurt a lot in the past by "friends," so I only truly trust a few people outside of my family. They are the people who have been there for me through everything, and I trust them with my life.

I get along best with people my age. It's just easier to relate to them and there are more things to talk about. When I was working, I worked with a couple of people who were about 10 years older than me, but it didn't feel like it. It seemed like we were all about the same age because we were all so close.

Great topic Brad!

Thanks!!! I can come up with a good topic from time to time. I know what you mean about the trust thing. I've had many so called friends that were cool to my face, but talked crap to everyone behind my back. I've even had family who got mixed up in drugs, and even have trouble trusting them sometimes. Good friends are harder to find than a sunny day in California!! Sad, but true!!

Oh wow. That's terrible about family getting involved in drugs. That must've been horrible. I'm sorry.

But yes, I can definitely relate to having people talk crap behind my back. One of my very good friends talked crap about me a couple of times to my best friend, who told me everything. It was shocking and mind blowing, but I guess in hindsight, I should've seen it coming because she does it with everyone. Didn't make it easier though.

Not really, no. I've never considered myself an easy person to like. It has a lot to do with the fact that my IQ is through the roof, and...just kidding. Seriously though, I am pretty shy and much like Brad, I don't care for large groups. If there are more than four people its a convention, and I don't like conventions. I can also be overly sensitive (my biggest personality fault) and that turns some poeple off. I also don't like to go out much. My ideal wife is someone who would perfer to say home for a romantic dinner and a movie.

I almost choked on my Diet Coke when I read that Mike!

I also wanted to add that you seem easy to get along with to me. You've been very nice to me and I really appreciate it! Plus, I bet you do have a really high IQ-just stop bragging about it okay?

I think I am well-liked, but that doesn't mean I'm outgoing or popular. I am very shy and even though I think most people like me, I don't like to be with a lot of other people. Not that I don't like them, it just makes me uneasy. I think I have some social phobia issues.

What's weird is I teach elementary school, so give me a crowd of 6 year olds and I'm the life of the party! No phobias there at all.

This is a tough question. I guess to sum it up, no. People don't really understand me. I'm quiet, and keep to myself. I am extremely shy, and people online are usually surprised that I'm that way. I have bad self esteem for some reason (and I have other problems, lol ) and I guess I am sort of paranoid....always wondering what people are thinking of me and if they really mean what they are saying about me. I am really a very nice person, I just am very shy and think I just come off the wrong way. I have always had trouble making friends because I have trouble approaching people. Like the above poster I don't really care to go out much and be put in a situation I don't have to be in.

OK, I'm done sounding like a nut

I do get along well with some people. You and I just sort of clicked. That doesn't happen between me and all people though. I treat everyone with respect, so in that sense I get along with most people, but it is difficult for me to get close to many people.

You do not sound like a nut! You sound like just about every other person who posted in this thread. I'm sure you are a great person. It's okay to be shy and enjoy time to yourself. And I understand being a little paranoid about things. I have self-esteem issues like that as well.
