Whose fault was all this, Gilligan or the Professor's?
Hey, that's kind of nasty of the Professor to give that speech on the direct approach and then order Gilligan to tell Ginger. It's amazing that the ark was so flimsy and expected to stay afloat. Why did Gilligan have to get up especially early to get lobsters? Are they morning fish? You can really feel the men's exhaustion! |

The Professor's fault, hands down. Where did the man get his degrees, anyway? From a cracker-jack box?
It was also rather unethical of the Professor to create the elaborate hoax of the fake transmitter, not to mention forcing Gilligan, at the last minute, to improvise as the voice on the other end. Gilligan's French accent is quite impressive! And he hasn't even had lessons from Mrs. Howell yet. I love the way the women show their resourcefulness in this episode. So much for the frail helpless females! The night-time hut building scenes are hilarious. Mr. Howell in the blue chiffon nightie is a scream. |

It was not the professor's fault. How would he know that someone moved the stick
This episode is one of my favorite. The scene where the men are building a hut in secret is hilarious. Gilligan speaking with a french accent is interesting & very funny. |

As the Professor tells the Skipper in Seer Gilligan,
"Well, in order to justify such a fantastic claim, I would have to perform laboratory tests with strict controls." But this is not what he does in the case of the island's sinking. He performs one very poorly conceived test: placing a single stick in the water. He neglects to observe any change in the shoreline, to take any readings with his seismometer, to consider any unusual behaviour in the island's animals, heck, even to use more than one stick! And where are his controls? Did he anchor his stick securely? No. Did he label his stick? No. Did he tell anyone but the Skipper about the purpose of the stick, despite the fact that he knows Gilligan fishes in the lagoon and others go swimming there? No. I'm afraid the Professor gets an F on this project! Happily, by the time the volcano episode rolls around, it seems he's learned his lesson. And yeah, I know, I know. Without it, there wouldn't have been any story!

Its Mr. Howell's fault. He is a millionaire, he could have bought a better boat.
