I read on the UM Wiki that this case was actually solved. This is one that I've been intersted in for years, but I cannot find any other information on the resolution. I have a pretty good idea of how this sad story ended, but I am going bonkers over here. Does anyone have any information? Was her body found?

I thought that they found the kidnappers, but they never found her body.

I have watched other true crime shows about her case and they all say her body was never found.

Gah! The suspect was released in 2006. I hope he's too frail to commit other such violent crimes.
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere on this board (a year or two ago) about remains found in FL that some folks speculated could be Annie Hearin. Seems like the clothing was right but maybe wrong size? And something about a surgery or dentals that would help identify remains being present but no conclusions were made. I need to go look that up. I'll post the info here if I find. |

Here's a link on the Porchlight usa site discussing the case: http://z13.invisionfree.com/Porchlig...opic=1359&st=0
Some info in that thread is that a couple people testified against Newton Alfred Winn (who was convicted of conspiracy to commit the kidnapping) under immunity grants. Don Ward was a paralegal who had worked for Winn. He testified that he had originally lied to the grand jury when he gave Winn an alibi for the day of the kidnapping. The other witness was Marilyn Taylor, Winn's former girlfriend, who said that she was the person who mailed the 2nd ransom note from GA two weeks after the abduction. Still looking for more info and will post if I run across something... |

The SO thread where we discussed a possible match is http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...t=annie+laurie
"cases I would be shocked to see solved" Here's part of what we discussed. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/505dfms.html http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/323uffl.html Annie Laurie Hearin's Doe Network site gives her age at the time of disappearance as 73 years old. She went missing on 7/26/1988. There's not much info on distinguishing characteristics. They just say that she is a white female with brown hair and pierced ears. I would like to have more info such as known operations or dental work that could help ID remains. They didn't even note her eye color, height, or weight. She had a couple medical conditions. One was ileitis, which is an intestinal disorder. Her condition was bad enough to be considered life threatening if not treated with medication. She also had scoliosis and arthritis. The second Doe Network case listed is a body found in FL on 4/3/1990, nearly two years after Annie Laurie Hearin was abducted. The body was found in the Big Cypress National Preserve in Collier County, Florida. The victim is described as 40 to 60 years old, 5' 4" tall, and of unknown weight. She has brown wavy hair and dark eyes. She had a spinal operation that included spinal plates attached to the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae that were secured with pedicle screws. The spinal plates were manufactured by a company by the name Medtronic (formerly Sofamor Danek). It is believed that the plates were manufactured between 1988 and 1990. She was found with size 16 shorts and a size medium shirt. She had extensive and expensive dental work with two fixed bridges, metal and porcelain crowns and a removable appliance. The expensive dental work probably means she wasn't a transient. |

In the SO thread I linked to, we had discussed those two Doe Network cases. It was someone else who came up with the unidentified person as a possible match. I think maybe that match may have originated on the porchlight site.
I thought for sure that we had discussed the clothing found with the unidentified person and it had been determined that it was the wrong size for it to be Annie Laurie Hearin's clothing. That led us to think that the Jane Doe couldn't be Mrs. Hearin. I looked all over here and porchlight but never found that discussion. Anyone else remember us talking about those details in this case? IMO, the Jane Doe reconstruction looks a lot like the 2nd picture of Annie Laurie Hearin on her Doe Network page. |

Perhaps I'm confusing this case with another, but I thought this one was solved. I thought Annie was found buried in the suspects yard and they had determined she was been buried alive, because her hands were up as if she was trying to protect herself as she was being covered with dirt, concrete, whatever. Those gory details were on an episode of American Justice I believe. Anyone else remember this?

Kamy, that was probably Doe Roberts. She was abducted and killed by her neighbor, who was apparently trusted by everyone, with no one knowing what he was really like.
Edit The victim's name was Martha Doe Roberts. The killer was Charles Lord. We have a 13 post thread here about the case: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=205322 |
