I'm curious as to why talk shows aren't released commercially on dvd? I love the Dr. Phil show and can't watch it because I'm at work when it's on. I don't have a DVR (too expensive). I went on the Dr. Phil website and some of the shows are available on DVD but one show alone costs 30 bucks!! Anyone know why talk shows can't be purchased at a store or online?

Probably no market for it. Talk Shows like Classic Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett are available in a "Best of" format. But I can't see a contemporary show like Dr. Phil released on dvd.

"The Best of" on any of the talk shows would be a nice idea. Especially when they had some witty celebrity guests on the show.

There is a best of Oprah set out there. I think the main reason they're generally not commercially available is because there's not a big market for it as markway said above. There's not a whole lot of rewatchability with talk shows.

I think that a 'best of' compliation would be a good idea. Dr. Phil gives a lot of marriage advice and relationship therapy, so it might sell.
