Thumbs up I Was An Extra During The Weekend

It was a blast myself, two Nieces, and my one Niece's husband. It was hot out the crew were nice and we were given lots of water, snacks, and lunch. We got paid minimum wage 8 bucks an hour. I'd do it again it was fun.

Last I checked, Joe, the minimum wage is $6.55 (goes up to $7.25 July 25th).

That's awesome! I considered working as an extra in Drew Barrymore's movie last summer, but I really couldn't commit to the potential hours they wanted.

That's pretty cool that you got to be an extra. I have a couple of friends who live in Wilmington, North Carolina which is where One Tree Hill is filmed and they have been extras a few times. They have said they get minimum wage pay. One of my friends did it a lot to earn extra money and her days off from school and work.

The movie seems like it will be good, it's called My Name Is Kahn. It's about a family and how they're treated after 911. It's an Indian production due out in February 2010 I'm not sure if it will be a major release or an independant film. I was in the stands of a soccer field rooting for my team, LOL. We were in several scenes it will be interesting to see which one was used. It was over a hundred degrees on Sunday and I'm a bit sun burnt. Here in California the state minimum wage is $8hr, sorry Jude.

Thumbs up A Star is Born. Congratulations!

That sounds like fun. Many movies are filmed in Boston, and I've known people who have been extras. Nice easy money, a lunch and you get to be in a movie! I know a woman who is 68 years old. Back in 1968, she was in her 20s and working as a waitress in a Boston restaurant. The movie, The Thomas Crown Affair, was being filmed in Boston. In one scene, Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway had dinner at that restaurant. They kept the actual staff for the scene, but the patrons were extras. My friend can be seen in the background speaking with patrons at another table. Everyone was told to just "mouth" their words, and not actually speak, although they were still given scripts. Here it is, over 40 years later, and my friend will catch the movie on tv and see herself. She always jokes that if you blink, you'll miss her. Maybe someday, you'll be watching yourself and your family on tv.
