Question Is Anyone Here A Fan Of The "Weird US" Books?

The origins of this were started by Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman back in 1989 who began writing newsletters for their friends about the many weird things around their homestate of New Jersey.

Overtime it evolved into an actual magazine and in recent years they have begun exploring the USA documenting the many weird things around the country and were also given a short-lived program, Weird US, on The History Channel.

Eventually they plan on making a hardcover book for every state. What you will find in this book is pretty much everything weird about your state; urban legends, odd houses, odd roadside attractions, supposed ghost sightings, abandoned structures, history pieces on "weird people"...

I really recommend you see if they have a book about your area and pick it up because it's a great read. I'm into all of this weird folklore stuff so it's right up my alley.

As of now these are the states that have a book out:
Arizona
California
North and South Carolina
Weird New England
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Kentucky
Las Vegas (Nevada)
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
New York
New Jersey (2 volumes)
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Texas
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin

Also out are Weird US and Weird US: The ODDyssey Continues

Their websites are here and you can also find their books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble...

I watched the History Channel show and it was pretty interesing. I haven't read any of their books but I think probably will at some point. I hope there is a New Mexico book someday there are a lot of weird things in this state.

This is the first time I'm hearing about them. They sound pretty cool though. I wouldn't mind reading the one for California. Maybe I'd find some interesting places to go to.

Haven't read the books, but I've heard of them. I love reading about the paranormal and I know there are quite a few examples of it in the area I hail from, both Wisconsin and Illinois.

Yeah, the Weird US show was pretty good. I believe it only lasted 8 episodes and 6 of them are on DVD. I wish they'd release Vol. 4 with the final 2 episodes already.

When the New Mexico book comes around I can pretty much guarantee they will include Roswell in there.

Yeah you should go give Weird California a look. I think it'll be great to see.
