Default Should Al have had a wife similar to Roseanne?

Someone that would make viewers understand why he hated coming home and having sex instead of someone like Peg who was a nice looking woman? I mean imagine how funnier MWC would have been if he was married to a heavyset nagging woman??-lol

I guess that would have been too easy to understand why he hated coming home. They wanted Peg to be sexy and not appealing to Al. I can't explain it, but a sexy woman who's husband didn't want her. I am assuming Al got tired of Peg. By the time the show premiered, they were married what, 15-17 years? Also, what made Peg unattractive to Al was that she didn't progress in life, she regressed.

Al And Peg were married exactly 16 years in the first season as seen in the the episode "16 years and what do I get".

I think having peg was perfect. From the outside she looks perfect as Al thinks, but as the years go she doesnt know how to cook or clean(even though she does it in the first season)and spends Al's last dime without any remorse.

Nah, he'd have just killed her in the first episode, ala PSYCHO DAD. ("Shot his wife cause she weighed a ton...")

Roseanne would've made mincement out of Al. On the flip side, it would be interesting to see what life would've been like had Dan Conner been married to Peg.

What makes you say that? Merely outweighing someone doesn't guarantee an advantage in a fight. Al had been a football player, which means he had strong, muscular legs, and he was always kicking ass down at the nudie bar. I think Al could've mopped the floor with Roseanne.

I think Dan Conner would've been glad to get a piece of ass like Peg, but would Peg have been attracted to him? Who knows? She was attracted to Al, and he was certainly no chick magnet.

Actually, the producers had originally wanted Roseanne and Sam Kinison to play the lead roles. Now that would've been interesting.

I just meant that Roseanne would've cut Al down to size just with her insults, but I guess we'll never know.

Sam Kinison and Roseanne were the two people that producers had in mind when the idea was concieved. Irony. LOL.

Who is Sam Kinison? On ET last night, Ed O'Neill was on with the special guest star (Shelley Long) on his new show, Modern Family. He mentioned that he was in the running for the role of Sam Malone on Cheers. I knew Fred Dryer was up for the role, but I can't picture Ed as Sam. Things sure would've been a lot different!!

Sam Kinison was seriously brash, foul mouthed comedian. LOL.

You should go to youtube. Maybe his material is on there. He died in 1992, I think? He had a show on FOX called "Charlie Hoover". In Living Color also parodied him in the form of a female character named "Samantha Kinison". He then guest starred as himself on the show and played husband to the fictional character "Samantha Kinison".
