I remember it well. It was in 1984, I was 9 going on 10. You would have thought he died back then. I can remember the kids and women in the neighborhood crying. But in 1984, EVERYTHING was Michael Jackson. I remember going to school that following Monday, and my teacher talked about it. It was phoenomenal. I don't know if we would ever seen any entertainer gather that kind of attention from a solo point. We probably never will for a long time. RIP MJ.

Oh yeah I remember that. That was the same year he reunited with his brothers for the Victory tour.

Supposedly he hated doing the Victory tour so much he donated his entire paycheck to charity!

Yeah from what I read it was largely his brothers idea because they knew it would be a big payday. The tickets prices were $30 which was outrageous at the time since most concerts were between $15 and $20. Jackson didnt like the fact that Don King was brought in because of his reputation and the fact King knew nothing about promoting concerts. One incident that really upset Jackson was when he asked one of his heroes James Brown to open the show. Brown refused because of the high ticket prices, and that really upset Michael.

I'd forgotten that Don King was involved in that debacle. Everything that guy touches turns to crap!!

I remember when his hair caught on fire. My brother, my dad and i were supposed to go to The Jacksons Victory tour at the old Cleveland Browns stadium but we didn't go. The tickets were probably sold out and that's probably why we didn't go. I wonder why Michael didn't wanna do the Victory tour with his brothers. Him and his brothers had magic when they performed. It seemed to me that Michael wanted to be away from his brothers and that sucks because i like the chemistry he had with them. There's nothing wrong with him wanting to do solo albums but it would've been nice if he would've did a few more albums with his brothers.

I had no idea Don King was involved in that tour. He maybe a businessman, but he wasn't a music guy.

I wouldn't say he's a businessman. I would call him a thief because he makes a lot of money off of boxers who do all the work while all he does is talk sh*t to promote the fight hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

From what I understand Michael never wanted to get involved with this tour because he felt his brothers were trying to cash in on him. They knew they werent going to sell a lot of tickets without him. (Can you imagine ladies and gentlemen Tito)

Yeah, because their careers were over. Had Michael not gone solo and become this icon, the Jacksons would have been another group from the 70s that people would have wondered what happened to them.

LOL@MickeyMac dissing Michael's brothers hahahahahahahahahahahaha. That's wrong for you to say that. I think his brothers can sing. They did a good album without him called 2300 Jackson Street. It may not have sold a lot of copies but it's a good album. Jermaine is a good singer. I got a couple of his solo albums Let's Get Serious and Jermaine Jackson(it has the hit songs Dynamite, Do What You Do, Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin with Michael)that are pretty good.

Thats not what I meant. There is talent in that family but other than Janet none of the Jackson siblings had records that sold like Michael's recordings.
