The Jackson 5ive was a Saturday morning cartoon series produced by Rankin/Bass and Motown Productions on ABC from September 11, 1971 until September 1, 1973; a fictionalized portrayal of the careers of Motown recording group The Jackson 5. ABC rebroadcast the series during the 1984-1985 Saturday morning season, which were also years when Michael Jackson had been riding a wave of popularity. The series was animated mainly in London at the studios of Halas and Batchelor, and some animation done at Estudios Moro, Barcelona, Spain. The director was Spanish-American Robert Balser.

even though the series was pretty lame, like most cartoon series based on music stars, i always had fond memories and luckily was able to obtain the entire series in excellent quality a few years back.....i will watch a few this weekend.

The article says ABC reran it in the '80s.....but it was in local syndication, cuz my Fox station aired it.

I watched it in the 80's when i was a kid and i liked it. I think the cartoon should be released on dvd for those who haven't seen it. I would like to see it again.

I also watched it in the 80's. I was looking for it now on tv being that Michael Jackson is gone but I don't see it. It would be nice to see

Twenty-three episodes were made. The show premiered on ABC, on Sept. 11,
1971 and lasted two seasons. Produced and directed by Arthuir Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass and written by Romeo Muller (and others), it featured the voices of The Jackson Five and Paul Frees (among others) and featured
character designs by Jack Davis. It was jointly produced by Rankin/Bass and
the British studio Halas & Batchelor Animation. [Source: The Enchanted

Um FYI, the J5 were unable to provide their speaking voices for their animated counterparts due to their demanding schedules, so other voices actors were brought in to do the job, including Edmund Sylvers (of the Sylvers) RIP and Donald Fullilove (Goldie Wilson of Back to the Future).

You are correct. The speaking voices for the main characters were ...
Jackie: Craig Grandy. Tito: Mike Martinez. Jermaine:
Joel Cooper. Marlon: Edmund Sylvers. Michael: Donald Fullilove.
In the pilot, Paul Frees was the voice of Berry Gordy. I'm not sure who voiced
Diana Ross.

hey i grew up watching the animated series too i would love too see it on bet new sister network centric ive called them to let them no my request they are showingthe classic soul train if anybody wants to tell the what you want to see there number is 1-212-205-3000 they would love to hear what you all would like to see peace
