What are your "comfort segments"? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Here I am again, with another of my dumb, sentimental thread ideas.

Do you guys have any segments you could never get tired of? I mean, favorite, favorite ones you could easily fall asleep to, or relax just listening to while about the house? Quite a strange notion considering the subject matter of the show at times, but I have to admit I have a few.

My "comfort segments":

Ed Baker
Dick Hansen
Kevin Hughes
Judy Hyams
Harold and Thelma Swain
Don Kemp (probably because of Raymond Burr's voice, though...it's calming)

What're yours?

Ahhhh!! I could never relax to the Dick Hansen segment, with all that crazy car chasing! Mine would be:

The "Magic" Rock
The Mysterious Hum
The segment about Lourdes
Kids Reincarnated from Dead Relatives
Psychic Dreams
Coral Polge (British psychic artist)

You guys are so morbid...relaxing to the murders! LOL. Just kidding I do the exact same thing. I think it's just the obsession with the show, it doesn't phase me if it's an unexplained death or murder.

Circleville Letters

Nancy Daddysman - the lady found skeletonized in kentucky, wearing red jeans.

Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman

Black Hope Curse - subdivision built on an old graveyard

David Merrifield - the Dallas lawyer who had a mysterious early morning meeting with someone known only as "sam jones", who was found shot to death in the elevator at his work.

Spontaneous Human Combustion - even though I don't believe in it.

Dexter Stefonek - the older man who disappeared on his way back to WI after visiting his son out west. His car was found abandoned and on fire at a rest stop and his body was found, later, at a trash dump.

Angela Hammond - I always feel a need to see this segment every time I hear the UM theme

Annie Laurie Hearin - the elderly wealthy southern woman abducted for ransom 20 years ago and never seen again.

Irene Love - still looking for her adopted sister after finding out that the two girls who grew up as best friends were really sisters adopted out to different families.

Jodi Huisentruit - the morning anchorwoman abducted from her apartment parking lot in the dark, early morning hours.

Patty Stallings - wrongfully prosecuted for her infant son's death

Gordon Page

Chaim Weiss

Gelatinous Goo

So yep, a continuous loop of those segments on DVD would pretty much keep me happy for weeks.

Oh man, I don't think I could relax to Angela Hammond (even though I've probably seen it 4 bajillion times), and definitely not Dexter Stefonek! (The bit where they show his car rolling down the interstate at night, then immediately cut to the thing on fire in the rest stop majorly creeps me out for some reason.)

I'll have to go with Gayle Delano as well, CD--I knew I was missing a few. The Florida convenience store abductions is another, as well as the Kevin Poulsen segment.

Ironically, my favorite segment of all time is not one I would include in this caregory. I wouldn't just up and watch at night, because no matter how times I've seen it, it still scares me.

NH serial killer--commonly known now as the Connecticut River Valley killer. I love that segment. John Philpin's work is extremely interesting to me, and the story of Jane Boroski's attack and her subsequent survival is something I never get tired of.

I know what you guys mean, I have some that I feel that way about, sometimes because they remind me of when I was younger, or if they're just captivating in general. I think the vast majority of people only "casually watch" shows like this, but I'm one of those types that likes to rewatch things over and over (sitcoms too and anything else I like).

I tend to like the police/wanted cases and sometimes missing persons/lost loves the most. There's too many to think of atm.

Dave Bochs appears to be a popular choice.

This segment has one of the most frightening lines in UM history.

"The thing i wonder about is whether Dave Bochs was conscious when he was put in. I would hate to think he was alive, cause I couldn't imagine a more horrible death (not verbatim)."

That line along with "on the night Dave Bochs died..." just gives me chills and always makes me want to watch that segment.
