Blair-Peekskill Law (I know a lot of people hate season 9, but this episode made me laugh and I loved how Blair solved the case in the end. This episode really showed who Blair would become someday...that she was dedicated to her law career and that she was going to be successful at it.)
Jo-Teenage Marriage (Really showed us the vulnerable side of Jo; how she longed to be loved and accepted by someone. Then in the end she is forced to grow up and do what is right for her...and finally finds that love and acceptance in her Eastland Family.) Natalie-Last Drive-In (Really sums up who Natalie is...the strong-willed girl who is also a little naive; passionate about what she believes in; but eventually has to face reality and learns she can't always make a difference in the way she wants, but knows she will never back away from a challenge.) Tootie-Me and Eleanor (Tootie Ramsey is Eleanor Roosevelt...need I say more? )Mrs. Garrett-Out of Peekskill (Even though it's sad because it's her last episode, I loved seeing Mrs. Garrett find love and realize that she needed to be true to herself, that the girls were grown and it was her time. It's one of my favorite episodes.) |

Mrs. Garrett - Out of Peekskill
Tootie - Who Am I? Natalie - Advanced Placement Blair - Fast Food (can't get enough of her little song in that ep but I like Blair in a lot of eps which made this hard) Jo - Many favorites with Jo too but right now I wanna say Down and Out in Malibu P2 (love at the end when she realizes Peekskill is where she belongs )

I just like anything from the first season + "The Little Chill" & any other eps that the 4 girls that left the 1st season were on. That is why I made this Yahoo group dedicated to them.

Oh, my goodness! I was just surfing and lurking away here through the threads and I saw this one...I cannot BELIEVE I did not see this and respond to it before!
Blair: Daddy's Girl I think that Daddy's Girl is really a very true representation of who Blair genuinely is inside underneath her spoiled and snobbish and materialistic exterior. Underneath all of that, when you get to the soul of who Blair Warner really is, she's actually just a young lady who is smart enough to understand deep down that true love and true family is much more important than money, and it accurately shows how heartbreaking and lonely it must be for her at times the way she always comes second in her parents' lives. I also love the way Jo is there for her as a true best friend, especially in the end of the episode, although of course neither one of them is actually willing to admit that they're best friends until later in the series. ![]() Jo: Teacher's Pet Teacher's Pet does several jobs in accurately representing Jo. It reminds us that she is very intelligent and that there is so much more to her besides her tough, tomboy, Bronx-barbarian exterior. It reminds us that she is filled with potential. It also reminds us what a big and very sensitive heart she has underneath that exterior and how very much she does love another person once she lets him or her into her heart. I think this is a special, landmark sort of episode for Jo too because we begin to see where her interests and potential truly lie and her love for teaching and the classroom, of course, is born in this episode. Natalie: Read No Evil Even though I'm sure this is traditionally thought of as a Mrs. Garrett episode, I think it does a good job of showing who Natalie truly is as a person as well. I love how it shows her anger at things that are wrong and unfair and her willingness to jump in and use her gifts of writing and journalism to make people aware when something wrong is being done. And I love how she gets together with the other girls to help Mrs. Garrett when she sees Mrs. Garrett putting her own job on the line after Natalie loses her job as the school newspaper editor. I love how unafraid Natalie is to take on the system and stir things up when she sees the need to. Tootie: Dear Me I think I love this episode about Tootie because it's one of the few episodes in season three that focuses on Tootie that DOESN'T show her doing something stupid like flipping out over not being able to go to a Jermaine Jackson concert or drinking a whole bottle of wine and getting drunk! Just kidding. Dear Me is my favorite Tootie episode because I love how it shows how much more difficult life can be for Tootie sometimes as the youngest of the girls. Growing Pains does that too, of course, but I love Dear Me because it shows just how hilarious Tootie can be (writing the Hunka, Hunka, Hunka letter ) and how strong and mature for her age Tootie can eventually be too, as she is in dealing with Zack at the end of the episode. I also love the concern and the bond between Tootie and Mrs. Garrett that is shown when Mrs. Garrett is clearly concerned after overhearing the Hunka, Hunka, Hunka letter and afterwards when learning the truth and giving Tootie her famous wise advice.Mrs. Garrett: Double Standard Now I know what you all must be thinking...Double Standard's not a Mrs. Garrett episode; it's a Jo episode!!! Well yes, you're right. It IS a Jo ep, not a Mrs. Garrett ep, but the reason this is my favorite episode in the whole series when it comes to the role Mrs. Garrett played in it is because of the BEAUTIFUL scene between Mrs. Garrett and Jo after Harrison practically tries to rape her. I think that that scene between Mrs. Garrett and Jo absolutely captures the spirit of what Mrs. Garrett is all about. There are a lot of scenes in which Mrs. Garrett is trying to be comforting to one of the girls when she's really hurting over something, but to me, this is the most beautiful and touching scene of all of them. It is so priceless to me the way that she cradles Jo in her arms and just holds Jo while she cries, and the way she gives Jo the reassurance she needs so badly after such a terrible thing had happened to her, and reminds her how proud of her she is. The way that Jo is torn down for a little while and Mrs. Garrett tenderly and beautifully builds her back up is just WONDERFUL, and like I said, that for me captures the soul of who Mrs. Garrett is. She is many things, a former registered nurse, a Peace Corps missionary, even a former housekeeper and housemother, a nutritionist and a wonderful person to have as a friend, but damn it all, even if she's never addressed by any of the girls as "Mom," that's what this woman is all about. She is a DAMNED fine and amazing mother and I believe that's what she loves being more than anything else in the world, to her own children and to the girls. |

^Those are all great choices Leigh. I really do love the scene between Jo and Mrs. Garrett in Double Standard as well. To me, that scene really tells us a lot about both of those characters.

Hmm, kinda hard but here goes:
Jo: The New Girl Parts 1 and 2. The introduction of Jo and she made quite an impression. Blair: New York, New York. Not only did it show Jo change, but Blair also. Natalie: A Death In The Family. Friends can sometimes help overcome tragedy. Tootie: Born To Late. I was never a Tootie fan, but this episode shows how she has matured and doesn't play second fiddle to the other girls just because she is the youngest. Mrs. Garrett: Brave New World Parts 1 and 2. A new course for the series that shows Mrs. Garret and the girls being more than a "teacher" and "student" relationship but friends that are willing to help friends. All of them: The Four Musketeers. Of course.
