Heart Ryan O'Neal & Farrah Fawcett Getting Married!!?

Ryan O'Neal to Wed Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett is fighting for her life, but longtime partner Ryan O'Neal told ABC news that "I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed."

"We will, as soon as she can, say yes," O'Neal, 68, says of Fawcett, his companion since 1980. "Maybe we can nod her head," he said, laughing.

"I used to ask her to marry me all the time," O'Neal said for an interview with Barbara Walters, scheduled to air Friday on ABC's 20/20.

"But it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it."

But now with Farrah Fawcett, 62, in a state of deteriorating health thanks to her cancer, "I promise you, we will," says Ryan O'Neal. "Absolutely."

Regarding dress for their upcoming wedding ceremony, the still-jocular Ryan O'Neal plans to look "like a gigolo. You know? And the little thin mustache and slicked-back hair. I don't know. We have fun, we tease about that."

We just hope son Redmond O'Neal gets out of jail in time to see it.

Thumbs up

I read this this morning and it made me feel good. It's a shame it took this to make it happen, but I'm glad that when the time comes, they'll be married.

It was about the ONLY piece of good news I read today too. We could use something upbeat for a change.

Thanks for posting Ardis.

Boy, I bet this person is really eating his/her words:

Certainly her decision to stick by Ryan has made them Hollywood's most golden—and most perplexingly talked-about—couple. O'Neal, whose string of ex-sweethearts includes Barbra Streisand, Ursula Andress, Diana Ross and Bianca Jagger, is to lovelorn glamorous women what Perrier is to luncheon. "Ryan has the full complement of Irish charm, and of Irish bulls***," says an associate. "But he's got happy feet—I don't think he'll stick around, even with Farrah."

Here's the whole article:

http://www.people.com/people/archive...079237,00.html

I hope they do get married...theirs is truly an incredible, REAL love story!!

That's what I said to my ex today - now THIS is a true Love Story. Forget the corny movie Ryan made with Ali McGraw, THIS IS IT.

Love isn't always easy, but a true one outlasts the good AND bad bumps and is eternal.

I know that jerk from People Magazine should be eating his words too. This makes a great cover story. I hope they can find great happiness together with the precious moments they still have together.

Well this means I may have to take back every bad thing I said about Ryan O'Neal. That said I have a feeling his kids wont be attending the ceremony.

Probably not, but that said, if anything it could just upset Farrah. I think there's always been a bit of friction, but I'm sure that's been put behind them the past year at least.

Actually, it was always Farrah who never wanted to marry, not Ryan - he's asked her many times.

I don't doubt that Ryan loves Farrah, but he wasn't that great while they were together. A part of me wonders if he's doing this, in part, to rehabilitate his lousy reputation. Let's face it, Farrah won't be around for long, and Ryan knows it. He's getting good press. I don't know. I just can't elevate him to a great guy because he stayed with Farrah while she was sick. I wonder if she wasn't famous, if he'd do the same.

Well, to be fair, she nursed him through his leukemia back in the late 90s.

Redmond, if he's out of jail, would be there - I'm sure. Ryan's other kids, I wouldn't count on it.

She's a doll, it's him I don't trust. He's a washed up actor, and I don't doubt that he's enjoying this attention. I always thought he was a creep. Rotten father, treated Farrah terrible. I remember the tabloid stories with her blackened eyes. Now, she's dying, so it puts him back in the spotlight. I believe he loves her and wishes she wasn't ill, but I think he's loves the publicity. Sorry, I'll just never think of them as this great couple. Never did, and because Farrah is dying, it's not going to change now. It was a 20 year slugfest with them. Even Ryan's remark, we'll nod her head, or whatever, how tacky.

Well, to be fair, you remember a lot more of their relationship...I don't. I think they got together around the time I was born!! I just hope and pray that he's changed for the better - for good.

Janice, I completely agree with you. I found the remark he made about her head more than tacky. I know it was a joke, but that's an awful thing to say about someone you "love" who is dying. The first thing I thought of when I read the article was that he must be doing this for the publicity. I mean, why else would this be happening now? I can understand if this happened right before she became ill. Then it would be more believable. I'm all for true love, but something here is completely wrong.
