Yet Another Michael J. Fox Movie to be Remade
This one won’t come as much of a surprise - a remake of the classic Michael J. Fox starrer “Teen Wolf” is in early development.
Warner Bros (who snagged the rights to the film series about five or six years ago) are currently out to writers, looking for the craftiest reinterpretation of Rod Daniels’ 1985 hit. They’re not quite certain ''which way they’re going to go'' - Me, I say go with ‘Son of Teen Wolf’! - but I’d say it’s pretty safe that whatever and whoever's script they go with will again tell the story of Scott Howard and his pesky hair prob. Not expecting anything too original here. But then, it's "Teen Wolf" - no need for too big or audacious an idea. The original, released on the back of Michael J.Fox’s success in “Back to the Future” (God, they cashed in on it!), told of a basketballer (Fox) who, upon discovering he’s a werewolf like his father (the great James Hampton), finds popularity and notoriety... and the ability to slamdunk. The only person not excited to be losing ‘the old Scott’ is long-time best pal, Boof (Susan Ursitti). Nobody is yet onboard to direct, and casting won’t begin until the studio decides on a script, but what’s the bet Zac Efron’s approached? Just a guess. Considering the WB are planning a big-time theatrical release here, it’s safe to say they’ll try and chase a couple of names for the main roles. Still a way's off though. God, still remember going to see “Teen Wolf” for the first time. It was at a cinema at the Knox Shopping Center. I remember the day fondly – dropped out out the front of the theater with my brother, step brother and step-sister. Remember being quite taken-back by the ‘heavy breathing’ sequence that opened the movie – which, of course, was the purpose and motivation of the sequence. But mostly, remember loving every bit of it – the laughs, the Fox, the ‘Chubby’, the Coach’s three rules, the soundtrack (Wiiiiiiiinnnnn in the End!), which I have around here somewhere, and of course, the inimitable (though they tried by recasting the role for the sequel) ‘Stiles’, Scott’s carefree partyboy buddy. About a month later, I checked it out again – at a club that was screening the film on a movable mesh-screen. Ah, the 80s. How I want to go back. UPN briefly flirted with a live-action “Teen Wolf” TV series in 2003, hiring Terry Hughes and Ron Milbauer to write the pilot for a potential series about a college kid (as opposed to a highschool kid) who discovers he’s got hairy palms. Didn't get to pilot. http://www.moviehole.net/200919534-e...lf-howls-again |

they should just do Teen Wolf Three instead of trying to remake it - can't anybody in Hollywood write an original script anymore, or are they too worried about having to actually PAY someone to write something anymore?

What a shame. Do they have to remake every movie out there? It seems pointless to remake a movie, imo.

Pretty soon we will have remakes on such 80's movies as The Stuff,Cat's Eye,D.A.R.Y.L etc, etc. I think Disney is even planing on doing another Tron movie as well? its just never going to end.Pretty mutch every older movie is going to get remade? Yeah usely the remakes are no where near as good as the orginal versions. Man that Pyscho remake they did back in the late 90's was terrible. But some of them are pretty good.I liked The Dawn of The Dead remake. And I liked the new Friday The 13th. Nothing we can do about the remakes. Lets just hope they keep there hands away from such classics as The Wizard of Oz,Back To The Future etc, etc. |

Teen Wolf was a variation on a theme from the 1957 movie "I was a Teenage Werewolf" starring Michael Landon (of "Bonanza" and "Little House on the Prairie" fame).
Not a remake totally...but that was the inspiration. |

Noooooooo. I love that movie. Are people in Hollywood just brain dead now so they think they can get away with remaking every single classic?
The three worst things people can do to a movie in my opinion: 1. Remake it 2. Make a billion sequels that suck 3. Make a TV show about it |
