Thought Sandra Bullock Claims She Made the Last Good Romantic Comedy in 2002!

Sandra Bullock has hit out at the poor standard of romantic comedy films, insisting her turn in Two Weeks Notice was the pinnacle of the genre.

The actress has starred in a string of rom-coms throughout her 22 year long career including Miss Congeniality, which saw her play a cop-turned-beauty-queen and fantasy film Practical Magic.

But Bullock is convinced the 2002 movie, in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant, spelled the end of the genre - because the quality of the movies made now is "crap".

She says, "They're not funny, they're not romantic, they're not written well for women anymore. It was basically all crap. I did the last good one. I'm done."

I've heard her say that she isn't going to be doing anymore romantic comedies. I
It's kind of arrogant for her to say that she made the last good one, because there have been others that aren't bad. Oh, definitely not as good as they used to be (and in some cases that's a major understatement!), but sadly, the romantic comedy is what she does best and most of her other movies lately have been.... well.... "crap"!!!

I saw Two Weeks Notice and it was no great shakes. It can't hold a candle to While You Were Sleeping!!

I agree. I'm a big fan of Sandra, but I didn't think Two Weeks Notice was very good at all.

I agree with that! I like Sandra and Hugh, but Two Weeks Notice was mediocre. Whenever I think of it, all I can remember is the scene where Hugh carried Sandra around because she had to use the bathroom.

I'm alittle disappointed she decided to do a nude scene in her new movie.

Then again, I might be prejudiced - While You Were Sleeping is one of my favorite films of all time. She seems to be suffering the same thing Meg Ryan is - her bread and butter was as the romantic heroine and now that she's in her mid-40s, she's stuck.

I think she could do well in mainstream drama, she just needs the right role to shine in. I thought she was really good in Infamous, but it got WAY overshadowed by Capote, and not many people even heard of it.

Bullock needs to move on into more dramatic fare. I could easily see her carrying something along the lines of "Norma Rae" or "Silkwood"; she's got that comfort factor that audiences would love to cheer on! (But no remakes! lol)

I agree - she could probably even tackle the action genre again. Anything would be better than Speed 2.

Sandra has been great in Drama before. My favorite Sandra Bullock movie is a film called 28 Days. It's about a woman who is convicted of drunk driving after getting into a car accident on the day of her sister's wedding. She is given a choice between jail and rehab. She chooses a 28 day stay in rehab and the rest of the movie is about what happens to Sandra's character in rehab and the changes she goes through over those 28 days. I thought Sandra was great in this movie.

That was a good movie, and I love how the Three Dog Night song "Joy to the World" was used. Betty Thomas directed it.
