What is yours? Mine is when Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady) plays the grandaughter of a white woman who dislikes Julia and Corey because they are black. Julia was sweet but stood up for herself with her best friend Marie backing her up. I loved that. Julia also schooled Corey on not being predjudiced.

It is very hard to pick a favorite from this show, because there were so many great episodes. I think, if I had to choose one though, it would be the one in the 1st season that shows how Julia got her job.
That one was somewhat "gritty" for the times, in that the idea of discrimination because of race was broached. The whole episode was handled incredibly well for being a half-hour sitcom and I love the ending with Julia and Corey sharing one of their tender Mother-Son moments as Corey is saying his prayers before being tucked in. Even the music played at the end of the scene is just the best! |

My favorite is "Romeo and Julia," where Julia goes on a blind date with a bigot named Jordan Haynes. Great episode because at the end Jordan and Lenny Waggedorn get into an argument that has a surprising end.

It's really hard to pick a favorite, as I loved them all.
However, "I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas" stands out to me.

I've never seen an episode of Julia but I've always wanted to see it. I wish it would get released on DVD.

I don't remember the title, but one of the second-season episodes has Julia nearly fired for being late to work due to car trouble. After jumping through hoops to get credit for her new car (a bright blue Chevelle convertible), I remember in the final scene Julia is upset because the new car won't start.
Someone points to the instrument panel and the camera zooms in to a tight close-up of the fuel gauge--which is on EMPTY. Julia had forgotten to fill up the gas tank! Julia was not quite the "superwoman" most late-sixties sitcom heroines tried to be....in fact, Diahann Carroll did a marvelous job of making her character more "human" than most of her counterparts. |

I wonder if this show is on Hulu? I haven't seen it since it was briefly shown on TVLand.

I liked them both, but Fred Williamson was, indeed, my favorite. |
