Default Drew Carey and The Price is Right

I'm sorry to beat a dead horse here, but I gotta throw this out there...

I used to love watching the Price is Right. When I was a kid, there was nothing better on a day off of school than tuning in to CBS at 10:00. Into adulthood, I still enjoyed watching TPIR but since Drew's first week on the show, I can honestly stay I haven't watched more than five minutes of the show.

Today, I thought I'd give it another try and I lasted less than fifteen minutes before I changed the channel.

Drew is terrible. Seriously. I think a small pile of gravel dumped on the stage would show a little more excitement than Drew. He just seems bored with what he's doing and at times almost annoyed by the contestants.

Anyone else notice this or am I alone here?

I like Drew Carey as a comedian but after a few seasons on the TPIR it's obvious that he doesn't have the hosting technique and personality to make the show fun to watch.

I only watch this on and off, but from what I've seen, he doesn't really bother me that much. He's no Bob Barker, and I was surprised that they even picked him, but I didn't think he was too bad. My personal choice would be John
O' Hurley. I'd go on that show just to be on the same stage with him! However, I do love Family Feud since he took over as host.

I love Drew, so naturally I like him as host. True, he's not a polished gameshow host, but he gives the show his own touch, whether you like that touch or not. He genuinely makes the show fun and upbeat to watch, and I like that. I think he's doing a fine job as host.

Drew's okay; the only thing I don't care for is the way he jokes about the value of the prizes sometimes.

Me too. I thought that only bothered me. When they show the prize he says "Wow a toaster, you can't beat that. How lucky are you?" (sarcastically). It's really annoying . Bob never did that. Even if that was all you won he never downgraded the product. I miss Bob. Since drew took over I don't care for the show that much. What a difference a host can make.

Default to appreciate the

Compared to Bob Barker, Drew Carey seems to have the personality of a mop (ESPECIALLY when a showcase contestant bid right on the nose). But then again, the whole "Barker's Beauties" thing is over, and no other names (such as "Carey's Cuties") have ever been used. He really seems to appreciate the models, treating them as equals, and referring to them by name, and thanking them (again, by name) after modeling a prize. I like Drew to an extent, but I grew up with Bob (not to mention Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy (RIP both their souls), as well as models Janice Pennington, Dian Parkinson, Holly Hallstrom and Kathleen Bradley all of whom were let go for one reason or another). It's never been the same for me since the "classic" family split up, and I can vaguely remember watching the show as a 4 year old, in 1978! From 1995-ish on, it really wasn't the same, and the show didn't mean a fraction of what it did in to me growing up. I did attend a taping in 1999. Rod Roddy was there, as was Janice and Kathleen (didn't get called on down, but oh well). I'm just glad I was there to see it in person before it finally "jumped the shark" not long thereafter.

Barker and Carey have different backgrounds. Barker was a radio host who was picked by Ralph Edwards to host Truth or Consequences. Carey is a comedian who wants to go for laughs. It's in his blood. He may not be as polished as Barker but I thought he brought some new energy to TPIR.

Yes Drew makes fun of prizes, but as long as he's not knocking the "big ticket items" like cars and trips, I don't see a problem. I do notice that on some days he's full of energy and some days it's like his mind is on something else. Barker at least gave a consistent performance. Drew needs to work on that, IMO.

Given all the games he had to learn and the stage cues he has to remember, I think overall Drew is a host who may improve with experience.

I also think he's doing a great job as host of "The Price is Right".True,he's no Bob Barker,(I heard that even Bob Barker said they made a good choice),but he put his own stamp on a classic.,and he's doing pretty good.

No offense to anyone but I am not a Drew Carey fan and he does nothing for me as the host for the Price Is Right. I think he lacks the skills and charm that Bob Barker has.

Nothing against Drew personally, but it's just not possible to replace Bob Barker.
