Another Reason To Be Grateful For DVD Release - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

While looking at the upcoming TV listings for THIS TV's airing of The Patty Duke Show, I noticed that they will be skipping two episodes from early in season one.

One of the episodes they are skipping is the Christmas one. They did show it during the current cycle but it was skipped on the previous cycle. Why? Who knows!

At first I was glad that I managed to record them when I did, but now the DVD is looking better and better!

Another reason to be grateful is that a TV show from the stone age is seeing the light of day on DVD.

So from what I have heard about this nice Shout DVD release we will have ALL 36 UNCUT season 1 episodes, bonus interviews with the surviving cast ....RIP Jean "Mommo" Byron. Possibly the unaired pilot with a diffrent dad and brother???

That's all that I've heard so far too. You'd think with the release just over two months away that a more definitive list would be available.

Have you seen the unaired pilot yet? I caught it on YouTube. They did an excellent job integrating scenes from the pilot into the episode The Cousins.

And who knew that Cathy was actually born in Boston? I never realized that she was an American citizen.

I wonder if Patty and cast will do commentary on an episode on each disc or at least one episode for the fans.

I heard Patty would do it, but Cathy rarely participates in anything like this. I don't think anyone seen her since the reunion movie

As for bliss' question, it would be great if Patty Duke could do the commentary for at least one episode. Particularly if she chose her favorite, or one of her favorite, episodes.

Not just Patty but William Schallart and the actor who played Ross.

The barely seen cousin (especially in Season 3) threw a bone to her longtime
fans by appearing in those 20 second social security ads this year

I wonder if Patty even has a fave episode of this show. This was a dark period for her after all. Does she even remember any episodes. I'm sure William and Paul will have good memories and do a great commentary!

She has said in recent years that working on the show, and more importantly with the people on the show, was one of the few bright spots during that time. Maybe it kind of gave her a chance to get away from some of the troubles at home. It's really kind of amazing that after her bouts of depression began she was still able to show up each day and do 12 hours of filming.

What should really be interesting is the interviews that were done for the DVD release. As far as I know, this will be the most extensive interview that Patty has given concerning the Patty Duke Show.
