Default Conan's Ratings Downfall Continues - Brings in Lowest Tonight Ratings in 6 Months

Solomon - you'll love this. The downfall of Conan continues. After ratings downfalls throughout all of last week, Conan went from latenight leader to latenight loser. For his first week, he posted a respectable 7.1 for the premiere, dropping to 5.0, 4.3, 3.8, and 3.5 for Tuesday-Friday.

The declines didn't stop there. Returning on Monday, The Tonight Show only posted a 3.1, winning to Letterman's close 3.0. Last night, things got worse: Conan dropped to 3rd place, being beat by Letterman's impressive 3.4 (highest ratings in nearly 5 months), as well as Nightline, which had a 3.1. Conan only had a 2.9, the lowest Tonight ratings since December.

According to Advertising Age, Conan is predicted to drop further by Friday, eventually leveling off to what he did at 12:35. For the first time in years, NBC is no longer the "Latenight Leader," and things aren't looking good. Whiile NBC is twisting thisas saying he's been strong in the demos, there is no way these low ratings can be made positive.

Late-night TV on NBC is going to be like nightly news on CBS.

Now if Leno's ratings can be equally as bad, maybe they'll put him back on the Tonight Show . NBC is run by morons.

I hope they give Conan a chance to settle in and try to build an audience.

Then again, maybe NBC shoudn't have forced Leno out in the first place.

Sigh......

Well, it took Leno awhile to build an audience and beat Letterman, so maybe Conan's ratings have already bottomed out and we'll see somewhat of an uptick soon. At least I hope. I like Conan.

I like him too. Maybe people just have to get used to the idea of him being the Tonight Show host instead of Leno. Conan is an established star, though so I don't think the low ratings are entirely his fault. I'd take him over Letterman any day.

Ratings be damned!

Conan puts on a great show. Unfortunatley, Jay's old people crowd aren't tuning in.

I doubt NBC will make any changes again. So low rated or high rated, I get to see my Conan at 11:35pm every night I'm off of work!

I wish I had a Nielson's ratings box to show my support, but alas, it doesn't matter what I watch.

A ratings uptick for Conan:

He posted a 3.2 last night, up .3 from Tuesday night. Letterman was right behind with a 3.1. These ratings still are down from Leno in total viewers, but apparently Conan is doing insanely well in the 18-49 demo, getting a 2.0, compared to Letterman's 0.9, according to Variety.

While Conan still pales in comparison to Leno, he is bringing in the younger crowd, which is ultimately what NBC wanted. I don't see what caused the big jump, though. Was it the guest?

I think Conan'll do fine. He kinda grows on ya. I liked Leno too, and Letterman, and Carson previously. All have/had different styles, but all are funny, imo.

Conan still hasn't won me over. I watched last night, actually til midnight or so, and I just wasn't entertained. The entire show felt like "fluff" to me. His monologue was him standing up on stage repeating things and jumping around. I was almost annoyed by it. That's why I don't understand last night's ratings jump.

That being said, the older folks are clearly turned off by him, yet the younger crowd is flocking to him.

Letterman beat Conan last night by a large margin - Letterman's 3.5 to Conan's 3.0. Seems to me like viewers are switching between Letterman and Conan, perhaps to see which one they want to stick with in the long run.
