'Ghost Whisperer' May Jump 5 Years into the Future... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ghost Whisperer producers are pondering a five-year jump into the future next season, according to EW's resident scoop king, Michael Ausiello. The jump would allow Melinda and Jim's son, still in the womb in last month's season 4 finale, to suddenly be old enough to show us what Carl the Watcher meant when he said that the boy would be able to do "much, much more" than his mom (who sees and talks to dead people and helps them crossover after making me cry). Though I would miss the sight of Jim (David Conrad) carrying a baby -- can we please get a montage? -- I'm all for this. (1) Skipping ahead would let us avoid the muck of Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Jim, who died and stepped into the body of another man, dealing with the reactions to their quickie wedding. And by then, Jim, who'd just gotten into med school, will have started his residency. (Scrubs are almost as hot on a man as a baby.) (2) We know from Carl that there is a battle of good vs. evil afoot and that Melinda and Jim's son is "the key." There is nothing scarier than a creepy kid. I'm not saying that I want their child to turn evil. Just maybe for Sweeps.

I used to love this show, but I think it's terrible now. Just my opinion.

they have already jumped the shark, screwed the pooch, and any other euphemism you can think of for turned this show into a pile of dog crap - so what does it matter what other goofy ideas they try now?

I assume next season they will send Melinda into space to fight alien spirits trying to take over our planet or something...

The first season was the best. After Andrea's death, it all went downhill from
there. Just my opinion.

I agree. I thought season 2 was ok. I liked Payne on the show.

I have only watched a few episodes this season but I think the time jump was pretty stupid. Also I really don't care for Melinda's son being a big part in the show.

I've never seen this show, but my best friend at work was telling me about this. How stupid to fast foreword the show that much! I hate when they age people on soaps and they've done that on sitcoms as well. I think if they do this, they will find themselves at the time when they aren't on the air, so you'll probably get your wish, JTL!
