Default Nick at Nite Request: "The Larry Sanders Show"

Hello Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I'm Grundoon Katt, and I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Domestic Television Distribution for Nick at Nite to become the exclusive home of the hit 1992-1998 sitcom "The Larry Sanders Show," which was created by Garry Shandling, who cast himself as Larry Sanders, the host of a fictional late-night talk show (also titled "The Larry Sanders Show") broadcast on a major broadcast network (although THAT network is NEVER identified throughout the show's 6-year run). Larry's employees included his loyal producer, Artie (played by Rip Torn); his personal assistant, Beverly Barnes (played by Penny Johnson); his sidekick/announcer, Hank Kingsley (played by Jeffrey Tambor); and the show's headwriter, Phil (played by Wallace Langham). Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall add "The Larry Sanders Show" to its regular lineup beginning Sunday, August 15, 2010 (18 years to the day of the show's debut) at 8 p.m. ET/PT with an all-night, 5-night marathon showcasing all 90 original episodes (including the original never-before-seen on TV or DVD pilot) of "The Larry Sanders Show" hosted by Garry Shandling titled "The Larry Sanders Don't Flip Around Marathon." Each episode shall be shown complete, uncut, & unedited, as originally broadcast on the HBO Television Network. After the marathon, Nick at Nite shall showcase regular repeats of "The Larry Sanders Show" by airing the series weeknights with back-to-back episodes at 11 p.m. ET/PT, only on Nick at Nite.

Default Nick at Nite Request: "The Larry Sanders Show"

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Domestic Television Distribution for Nick at Nite to become the exclusive home of the hit 1992-1998 sitcom "The Larry Sanders Show," which was created by Garry Shandling, who cast himself as Larry Sanders, the host of a fictional late-night talk show (titled "The Larry Sanders Show") broadcast on a major TV network.

Other characters included show producer Artie (played by Rip Torn), Hank Kingsley (played by Jeffrey Tambor), Larry's yes-man sidekick/announcer, head writer Phil (played by Wallace Langham), and talent booker Paula (played by Janeane Garofalo).

Garry Shandling created "The Larry Sanders Show" and based it loosely on his real-life experiences backstage guest-hosting for Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show." In fact, in many ways, the show paralled Johnny Carson.

Soon after his popular "Garry Shandling Show" concluded its 4-year run, Shandling hired his writing partner, Dennis Klein, to write the pilot script with him. Shandling would soon hire his then-managers Brad Grey & Bernie Brillstein to produce the show with him under the banner Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, and together the 4 men pitched the series and the rest, as they say, is history.

"The Larry Sanders Show" would be co-distributed by Columbia Pictures Television & HBO Entertainment.

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall showcase repeats of "The Larry Sanders Show" starting Sunday, August 1, 2010 with a week-long salute to the show titled "The Larry Sanders No Flipping Marathon," showcasing all 90 episodes (18 per night over 5 nights from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. ET/PT, encoring the first 4 each night from 5-7 a.m. ET/PT) complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the HBO Television Network. After the marathon, Nick at Nite shall add "The Larry Sanders Show" to its regular schedule by airing Sunday-Thursday from 8 p.m. ET/PT (encoring from 6-7 a.m. ET/PT 7 nights a week) and Friday-Saturday from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT on Nick at Nite.

Sincerely,
Grundoon Katt

Default Nick at Nite Request: "The Larry Sanders Show"

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Television for Nick at Nite to become the exclusive basic cable home of the hit 1992-1998 sitcom "The Larry Sanders Show," which was created by Garry Shandling, who cast himself as Larry Sanders, the host of a fictional late-night talk show broadcast on an unidentifiable major TV network.

Other characters included show producer Artie (played by Rip Torn), Hank Kingsley (played by Jeffrey Tambor), Larry's sidekick, and talent booker Paula (played by Janeane Garofalo).

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall welcome "The Larry Sanders Show" to its regular schedule starting Sunday, August 1, 2010 with a week-long salute to the show titled "The Larry Sanders Show No Flipping Marathon," a showcase from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. ET/PT each night (encoring the first 4 from 5-7 a.m. each night) showcasing all 90 half-hour episodes of "The Larry Sanders Show" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the HBO Television Network. After the marathon, Nick at Nite shall welcome "Larry Sanders" to its regular schedule by airing Friday-Saturday nights from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT (encoring 7 nights a week from 6-7 a.m. ET/PT) and Sunday-Thursdays from 8-9 p.m. ET/PT, only on Nick at Nite.

Sincerely,

Default Nick at Nite Request: "The Larry Sanders Show" (PLEASE Respond to this post)

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Domestic Television Distribution for Nick at Nite to have exclusivity in airing reruns of the hit 1992-1998 sitcom "The Larry Sanders Show," which was created by Garry Shandling, who cast himself as Larry Sanders, the host of a fictional late-night talk show broadcast on a major TV network.

Other characters on the show included Artie (played by Rip Torn), the show's producer; Hank Kingsley (played by Jeffrey Tambor), Larry's yes-man sidekick; Beverly Barnes (played by Penny Johnson), Larry's personal assistant; head writer Phil (played by Wallace Langham); and talent booker Paula (played by Janeane Garofalo).

Garry Shandling created "The Larry Sanders Show" and based it on his real-life experiences in the early 1980s guest-hosting "The Tonight Show" starring Johnny Carson. Soon after conceiving the idea for the show, Shandling hired his writing partner, Dennis Klein, to write the pilot script with him. Soon afterwards, along with his then-managers Bernie Brillstein & Brad Grey, Shandling pitched the idea for "The Larry Sanders Show," which would soon be greenlit by Columbia Pictures Television, which distributed the show.

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall begin airing repeats of "The Larry Sanders Show" starting Sunday, August 1, 2010 with a week-long salute to the show titled "The Larry Sanders Show No Flipping Marathon," showcasnig all 90 episodes of "The Larry Sanders Show" (18 per night over 5 nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. ET/PT, encoring the last 4 from 5-7 a.m. ET/PT each night) complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the HBO Television Network. After the marathon, Nick at Nite shal air repeats of "The Larry Sanders Show" regularly by airing Sunday-Thursday with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Friday-Saturday with back-to-back episodes from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, encoring 7 nights a week with back-to-back episodes from 6-7 a.m. ET/PT, only on Nick at Nite.

Very nice idea, but first Viacom (the owner of Nick @ Nite) will never do this, maybe in the past when they were more creative, your idea is actually better for TV land (also Viacom owned), but we all know unless its a reality show, TV land will not do any original and clever programming ideas.....the only way you can get a nice "Larry Sanders" fix, is to buy the DVD's...the shows days of airing on TV are over, also since it was made for Showtime, the cursing is what really helped make it funny in my opinion and regular broadcast or cable reruns change the tone and texture and made it a white-washed version of the series....again nice idea, BTW...Viacom executives who make these decisons probably never come and read posts here at sitcoms, because if they did their programming schedules would be much more creative than the Cr*p they show now.
