Default DVD packages.

For allot of the DVD season the cases are coming out with amaray and not Slimcase anymore. I was just at target today and they transformed Arrested Development Season 1 into the amaray casing, and 24 season 7 came out in that kind of case too with a 6 disc set, and 2 and a half men came out in it too. Is it like cheaper or something to make them like this.

Yes - I hate it when they change dvd packaging half-way through season sets. In the UK, the Golden Girls seasons 1-3 were released in proper foldout dvd cases, yet for the 4th it was just a single cheap looking amaray case!?!? I realise it is cheaper to use an amaray case (especially with the economic situation as it is) but for dvd collectors and fans, it's highly annoying!

I agree that sets shouldn't change in the middle of seasons but I am always a fan of more condensed packaging, smaller packaging = more room for sets

That's funny because I was just thinking about this today! When Full House came out with Seasons 1 and 2, they had the foldout cases. Monk was the same way, the first season. Then both of them started doing the slim cases. I noticed that Season 1 of Charmed is a lot thicker than the other seasons, because they used the Amray cases. The foldout cases are awful because the DVD's are in the slots so tightly that I almost feel like I'm going to break it just getting it out!

Yep, I noticed this when I got my 24 Season 7 DVD.

At first I thought maybe it was a "FOX thing" because this new casing happened to 24, Prison Break, and Arrested Development. However I'm wrong since you mentioned it happened to Two and a Half Men which is not on FOX.

I'm wondering if this happened to the final season of The Shield. Anyone know how that was released; did they stick with the bulky set or they changed as well?
