Question What would you do?

Here's the situation: You're walking up to a restaurant for dinner and on your way, you see someone you really don't like's car in the parking lot, meaning they happen to be dining there as well. Which do you do?

I pissed my mom off tonight because I would not eat at the restaurant we chose because of this very situation. I had no desire to run into them.

Cool

I would go and eat somewhere else. Pretending to like someone you don't takes too much effort as does trying to avoid someone. And in either of those circumstances you wouldn't enjoy your dinner at all. So its best to just go somewhere else.

I'd probably go in and just try to avoid them. I guess it depends on the situation and how much the person upsets you, though.

I've been in that situation. And I always went someplace else.

I'd probably do the exact same thing that you did Cathy. I suck at pretending to like someone that I don't.

depends on how much i enjoy fighting with them. but since i'm sure this question is in the context that i'm really bothered by their presence, i would leave. last semester i had to put up with mild anxiety attacks from having a class with someone i couldn't stand, even though we never even talked. no doubt just an hour or so of that would ruin my evening.

Give them a "go to hell" look, then go somewhere else

If it was possible, I would go somewhere else. This has happened to me several times with a former boss of mine. I see her around town all the time and I avoid her because it is not healthy for me to be in her presence. The sight of this woman forces my anxiety to rise so much I am close to a panic attack. A few weeks ago I was taking my kids to McDonalds and we walked in and I saw her in line and walked right out. I told the kids it was too packed and we drove to another McDonalds. I just couldn't do it! So I understand where you are coming from.

You need to keep your rude comments to yourself.

it's naive to think they would leave you alone (given we don't know the person you're referencing). some people would try to revive the bad blood, even in public. and even if they don't, just being near someone you don't like can cause uncomfortable feelings.

Apparently, all of us who chose the first option need to get over ourselves...
