Default Where have all the good times gone?

There has been a sad and awfull stillness here at the boards. I know that the summer has come upon us and given us that sudden urge to be outdoors. I know, I have been like this since Septemeber of last year with all the sun shine, yet some how some way I have tried to manage a post or two here at the CATM board. I am not saying we all don't have lives outsde this wonderful board that brought us all together. I just miss the posting from everyone and there views, interests and imaginative creativity that once cultivated this board endlessly! I know I have been busy monkeying around with Freddie's site and writing about Freddie as become a passion of mine again! I guess I am just missing all the zany fun we had back in the day when CATM aired in 2001. I miss the "group hugs", the anatomy class, the way we used to dig deep in our minds about Freddie. I've been wondering... Have some of our minds gone else where? It is a good time to think about this. Has the Prinze who we all watched and love faded away?

I agree with ya. I faithfully check out the boards each day & have noticed the silences. Guess it's just you and me kid. Even after Mike passed on to glory, I still came on here each day because I needed to get away from the pain I was and still am feeling. I too miss all the good times. And the fan fictions too. I still want to read more of Luckymama's Muff Kovak stories. Don't let life keep you folks from here. It's an escape from life. Let's not forget our Latino guy...

OK, I'll chime in.

After reading this thread, I checked out the CATM wiki just to refresh my memory about a few things. I was surprised to learn that the show actually dealt with the death of the "Chico" character, albeit in an indirect way. I honestly didn't recall that episode, though to be truthful I didn't follow the show much after Prinze died.

I think in retrospect that while it was a foolish idea to try to continue the show without him, it was a good idea to write the character's death into it. It did away with the lingering "the actor is gone but the character is somehow still alive somewhere" issue. That character was so closely identified with Prinze it would have been a blasphemy for anyone else to play him and even the notion that the character was gone but alive seemed to downplay the significance of the portrayal. Plus it apparently gave Albertson a good scene or two.

Also I once again thought about how a show like this would never be made today. Issues of race are pretty much off limits today, and that's sad. All these shows (AITF, Maude, CATM) really did a good job of at least bringing up racial issues in a realistic way. There's no way to do so without running the risk of offending SOMEONE, but ultimately the benefits far outweigh the risks.

I'm guilty of not posting like I should..but my love for Freddie is still as strong as ever. I guess we all just need to get back together and remember how we all became friends and how much fun we had here.

Regardless if we are not always at this wonderful board. I know we are all here in spirit. Our busy lives callls us to do other things. Sometimes for the good times and in the bad times, we end up here as a place for comfort. I can imagine sometimes just not having anything to post, but instead stopping by to browse the board with all the prior threads here can bring us back to a time where it brought us great joy together as a group.

Please enjoy my little video that pretty much says it all Now and forever

Joy... I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I can only speak from my own experience but maybe the silence in the forum may be due to all the messes we are dealing with in today's world...like the economy and such.
Now I know its easy to blame the economy and global problems for everything but I think a lot of people are working more hours, taking on second jobs, maybe moving to new locations for cheaper living, or maybe just in a general funk because of tougher times. Who knows?
That's just my take on it. I know the economy has me in a blue mood sometimes.
And that's all the more reason we need to come together here as a community...times were simpler, easier, and happier back in the 70's. Freddie's smile was so carefree and reassuring. I know it sure makes me feel better to pop in a vhs tape of CATM when the news is going on and on about the stock market tumbling or unemployment rates are skyrocketing or foreclosures are looming.
And I don't feel as if doing that is burying my head in the sand. Rather, taking a much needed siesta and chilling out. We all need to do that from time to time.
Peace...Patti

Joy I miss you so............ (((HUGS))) I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your Mom. I wish I could hug you in person.

As for me I should not have stayed too long from this site. There was a time I had health issues but now I'm doing fine so there is no excuse why I can't pop up here more often. I miss you all....

You'll be seeing alot more of Pitooey more often. (((HUGS))) to you all...

It is nice to see everyone pop in once in a while. I am forever grateful for this board and having a place like this to share our thoughts, memories, and laughter on the show Chico and the Man and Freddie Prinze. It is great to see you all come back and let us know how you are doing.

Back when my kids were too little to be on the computer, I had so much more time on here--now my kids, ages 10 and 16 (and my other kid, my hubby), monopolize the computer sooo much that I barely have any time on here at all! I know, it's just an excuse, and I wish we could afford a second computer! But there's no way any time soon! I's so glad I found this site and found you guys all those years ago! There are alot of things that have happened to us through those years-- I feel like we're all a big family
