I love going through the checkouts where you check yourself out...but I hate seeing people that are god-awful slow in those lanes.

If I'm standing in line at the checkout and have a cart full of groceries and someone comes up behind me with only a few items then I will allow that person to go ahead of me.

I like to do my grocery shopping in the late evening as well. Not as many people and I dont have to stand in some long assed lined.

I have to admit I am not too crazy about those self checkout lanes. Sometimes I like actually dealing with a person.

It's fun to decide what you want.

I don't mind food shopping so much when it's quiet. I can't stand any kind of shopping when the stores are crowded.

People get so angry when they grocery shop. Then they dump it all out on the cashiers... it's not our fault that the stores busy or that we didn't have what you were looking for.

I agree. I worked in a grocery store a few years back. I worked in the floral department but a few of my friends who were cashiers used to deal with people that were impatient because of lines and other issues.

Money is never an issue with me when it comes to shopping for food.

The only problem with the grocery stores in my area is that they don't have Rold Gold Sourdough pretzels!

this week has been a week of pure misery as a cashier. when the beginning of the month rolls around, everyone is convinced that they have to shop during the first week or they are starving!! The store where I work is just too cheap to hire extra help so people take out their garbage on us......well I've been spewing it right back to the sarcastic cows!!

I LOVE food shopping!! I don't take my garbage out on cashiers when either the store's busy (that's not your fault, anyways) or because you don't have an item I want (if I really want it bad enough, I go someplace where I KNOW they've got it). The only time I give guff to a cashier is when they don't sound sincere - especially when one of you says "Have A Nice Day" AFTER my "day" is over (read: after I get off of work or after 6 p.m., whichever happens first). It usually goes something like this:

Doody: What time is it?
Cashier: 7:30
Doody: P.M.!!! It's not DAY anymore!!

I just don't tolerate gratuitousness or phoniness of ANY kind from ANYbody!

That's because the cashiers are not greeting the cutomers with a smile when they get there.
