EXCLUSIVE: Megan Fox Talks Jonah Hex, Her Mysterious Character — And Shooting People
Published by Larry Carroll on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 6:28 pm.

For obvious reasons, people are excited about the upcoming film adaptation of “Jonah Hex.” And for even more obvious reasons, men are excited to see Megan Fox’s performance in the film.

Now, the stunner is finally talking about her deadly, beautiful and mysterious femme fatale.

“That movie is gonna be amazing,” explained the “Transformers” star. “It’s a post-civil war, apocalyptic type Western. The director Jimmy [Hayward] is a lunatic, and he might be a genius. From some of the things I’ve seen him shoot, it’s a badass movie.”

One of the big questions that have emerged since Fox’s on-set photos have emerged is a simple one: What character is she playing? And the answer is that it’s someone even the most die-hard fan of the comic series probably won’t remember.

“They’ve changed her name a couple of times — it’s Leila now,” Fox explained. “She is a prostitute. She’s a good ol’ working girl, and she’s a love-interest to Jonah… of sorts. I mean, it’s by no means a classic type of relationship.”

“She wasn’t really featured in the comics,” Fox said of her character. “Her name was initially Liala, and now they changed it — or it was Layla, and now they changed it to Leila. … All the women in the movie are prostitutes. … [I’m] sort of a tough, no-nonsense prostitute. Like, she’ll shoot you in the head if she has to. And she does!”

Asked if she means that literally, Fox revealed that she definitely gets to wield a handgun in the flick. “Not in the head,” she grinned. “[But I get to shoot someone] somewhere.”

Co-starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Will Arnett, “Jonah Hex” hits theaters everywhere August 6, 2010.

Do Megan’s revelations get you even more excited about “Jonah Hex”? What do you hope they keep – or get rid of – in the comic-to-movie translation?

First Hi-Res Look at Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex
Wednesday, November 25, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

Bloody Disgusting got their hands on the first official image from Warner Bros. Pictures' comic adaptation of Jonah Hex, which was directed by Jimmy Hayward and stars Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Will Arnett and Michael Shannon.

Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood.

He first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of "All-Star Western" before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years.

A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.

Will Arnett Promises a Dark, Serious Jonah Hex
Source: Silas Lesnick
January 11, 2010

Speaking exclusively with SuperHeroHype, Will Arnett confirmed that Jonah Hex will be taking his acting career in a decidedly less comedic direction.

"My character is much more serious," says the When in Rome star, "I hope. Otherwise I've failed miserably at my job."

The film, set for release on June 18th, adapts the classic DC Comics Western character, recently made popular in a 2005 ongoing series by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti.

"I play a guy who's in the Union army right after the Civil War," explains Arnett, "I enlist Jonah Hex, played by Josh Brolin, to do our bidding for us and to track down John Malkovich."

Malkovich plays Quentin Turnbull, a former Confederate officer who, in the original comics (and most likely in the film as well) harbors a vendetta against Hex for the death of his son during the war.

"'Jonah Hex' is a very kind of heavy movie," says Arnett of the film's tone, "It's dark and actioney... A real fun, dark, sweaty movie."

In related news, Heat Vision is reporting that Warner Bros. will be doing additional shooting for the film. The studio is assembling Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender for a roughly 10-day shoot in the Los Angeles area for the movie, beginning at month's end.

The trade reports that the studio has decided to work on story and action during the shoots, working in 12 pages of additional script mixed in with some re-shoots.

Director Jimmy Hayward will be joined by I Am Legend helmer Francis Lawrence, who was brought in last month to act as a consultant.
