Default 6:30PM World/Evening/Nightly News - anyone still watching?

I find the subject of nightly news - which was huge for so many years on CBS, NBC, and ABC - interesting. Does anyone out there still watch these little nightly newscasts in this era of MSN, Yahoo, CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, even smartphones - when you can get the news you want, when you want?

The only person I know that still watches the 6:30PM nightly news is my 70-something grandmother, lol.

I dont. In fact when I watch the news I have to watch it in small doses. I know they are only doing their job, but it seems to me the media is constantly hitting their viewers over the head about how bad things they are. Its like they dont want you to forget things are tough.

I do have a fondness for Fox news because Sean Hannity and Bill O'Riley are on there.

I'm not!

I also wonder if it will ever move to cable like Monday Night Football did in 2006.

ABC and NBC still do great ratings for this, doing 8 million+ every evening. I still watch it.

I haven't watched the nightly news in about 20 years. I'm not missing much.

Yeah...maybe it's just me, but I've always thought CBS was weak in the news department.

Nope - I don't get home until about 6:30, and then I eat dinner. I don't see the need, what with the internet and whatnot.

I watch CNN but never really had a interest in the Evening News.

So when is CBS going to realize that Katie is not the answer?

While it is not my only source of news, I watch the NBC Nightly News when I can, and enjoy it from start to finish. For me, it's a good capsulization of the days' events. If I want to go more in depth, I can read more on a news topic later or listen to a discussion on one of the cable channels. No, I've always liked the networks' evening news.
