Movie DVD/Blu-ray Details for "Sorority Row" 2/23/10

Hot, Sexy Sorority Row Girls Coming at You With an R-Rating
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

For those of you who were worried that Summit Entertainment's Sorority Row would be rated PG-13, we received confirmation a few seconds ago that the Stewart Hendler directed remake will in fact hit theaters rocking an R-rating (hellz yeah!) for "strong bloody violence, language, some sexuality/nudity and some partying."

Arriving in theaters October 2, when five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never speak of it again, so they can get on with their lives. This proves easier said than done, when after graduation a mysterious killer goes after the five of them and anyone who knows their secret...

Hot Chick + Axe = Sorority Row Awesomeness
Wednesday, June 17, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

On October 2nd the joke goes wrong and Summit Entertainment releases Sorority Row, Stewart Hendler's R-rated remake of The House on Sorority Row that stars Briana Evigan, Rumer Willis, Audrina Patridge, Carrie Fisher, Julian Morris, Leah Pipes, Margo Harshman, Jamie Chung, Matt O'Leary and Caroline D'Amore.

While you've already seen the trailer and a bunch of stills, two new images popped up online, one featuring a hot chick with an axe - cover her in blood and you've got horror heaven.

I saw the original movie for the first time a few months ago. It was pretty good. Not sure about the remake since Audrina from The Hills is in it.

They really need to re-release the original on DVD. Right now it's out of print, and the cheapest it can be purchased for right now is about $40. I saw it a couple years ago and enjoyed it.

EXCL: Sorority Row, The Roommate's Matt Lanter
Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
July 3, 2009

Matt Lanter is the latest cast member from the new 90210 to leap into horror after Jessica Lowndes (Autopsy) and AnnaLynne McCord (Day of the Dead). A veteran of "The Clone Wars" (he voiced Anakin Skywalker on the Star Wars series), the young actor will be seen this September in Summit Entertainment's Sorority Row, a redo of The House on Sorority Row, starring Briana Evigan, Rumer Willis, Audrina Patridge, Jamie Chung and Leah Pipes. Not bad company to keep.

"Those girls are not bad to look at," he admits while chatting with ShockTillYouDrop.com. "I play the wealthy senator's son, so I'm a guy in a position of potential power. I date the sorority president played by Leah Pipes. We're the power couple there in the film and in the sorority. I'm pretty involved, I get to do some cool stuff and had a lot of fun doing it. You'll definitely see me in there."

Since we're still a bit out from the film's release, Lanter is hesitant to divulge any plot details, but he says he's thrilled with the MPAA rating. "We wanted to be able to do what we wanted to do and creatively make it fun. Not adhere to these PG-13 guidelines. Everyone, I think, is happier now that we have the R rating because these kills...some of these kills that were written are just amazing. I saw short clips of a couple of them. They're just spectacular. With a PG-13 rating I don't think you could pull off some of the stuff we did."

Shortly after Sorority Row, Lanter moved on to the Screen Gems' The Roommate which recently wrapped shooting with Christian E. Christiansen directing and Leighton Meester, Cam Gigandet and Minka Kelly starring. "It feels a lot like Single White Female," he says, "it's got that obsession. It's set in a college setting. So it speaks to young adults and older teenagers. It's another fun one, more of a thriller. A clever thriller. I had a great time on that one. In this I'm the ex-boyfriend of the main character played by Kelly. She's off to college and I come into the picture eventually."

I lucked out a few years ago when I bought my copy. DeepdiscountDVD was having a sale on Elite Entertainment DVD's and got House on Sorority Row for $4.89.

Granted the original's poster always looked like the cover of a cheap romance novel- the remake's poster is silly. Are they advertising a horror movie or is it the cover for "Desperate Housewives: The Next Generation"?

I saw the original when it was first released in the theaters. It's always been one of my favorite 80's slashers.

Sorority Row Brazilian One Sheet, Website Update
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

Hot chicks, violence and an R-rating. That's enough to get me in the seat for Summit Entertainment's Sorority Row, which arrives in theaters September 11.

Today the official website was updated and features some really cool 3-D graphics, along with the first of many "confessionals" that were teased last week on a few other sites. In addition, below you'll find the official Brazilian one sheet for Stewart Hendler's film that stars Briana Evigan, Rumer Willis, Audrina Patridge, Carrie Fisher, Julian Morris, Leah Pipes, Margo Harshman, Jamie Chung, Matt O'Leary and Caroline D'Amore.

When five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never speak of it again, so they can get on with their lives. This proves easier said than done, when after graduation a mysterious killer goes after the five of them and anyone who knows their secret...

Sorority Row Babes Talk Up "R" Rating
Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
August 3, 2009

When you talk to the cast of Sorority Row you're bombarded with information...all at once. The gals love to chat and when this writer caught up with them recently to learn more about the remake of the '80s film they star in, I found them incredibly excited about the fact that the Stewart Hendler-directed redo was rated R.

"You really see all of the deaths happen," says Briana Evigan. "There's bad language, there's nudity. It's like "Scream", too, and what I love about it is that I went back and watched "Scream" when we were filming this and that film is so old school compared to this. Everything looks so real now, technology."

Margo Harshman agrees, "The deaths in this are pretty nasty. We watched it recently and I got nauseous."

"We are a hard R in every way," interjects Leah Pipes. "These deaths are gruesome. The humor is for an older crowd, I think. The younger crowd, if they sneak in, will enjoy it but the humor is definitely mature."

Speaking of body count, I asked the cast about distributor Summit Entertainment's one-sheet for the film. Was it a strategic photo shop job or were the girls asked to pile up on one another? Definitely the latter. Audrina Patridge teases, "You should have seen us at that photo shoot. It was crazy!"

"And there are a pile of girls in this movie, so enjoy!" enthuses Pipes.

I'm starting to get better feelings about this movie. I might check it out in the theaters.

Friday, August 7, 2009
By: MrDisgusting

According to Amazon Liberation Entertainment is releasing a special 25th anniversary edition of The House on Sorority Row on November 24th. No specs were revealed, but there is some cover art.

A cult classic slasher film that delivers suspense, murder, mysteryand yes co-eds. Flirtatious young sorority sisters who are days away from graduation set out to throw one last decadent celebration. Unbeknownst to them, the strict matron of their house hides a horrendous secret thought long buried. A gruesome accident is witnessed by a hideous fiend, hidden within the once nurturing dwelling, which triggers a rampage of death and destruction.

Before the end, the peril faced by this sisterhood will push them to the brink of annihilation. And rivers of blood will drown all who enter The House on Sorority Row. Pledge Theta Pi and die!

Sorority Row One-Sheet Is On Fire
Source: Facebook
August 12, 2009

Facebook has yielded another one-sheet for Sorority Row (opening September 11).

The cast here isn't piled high, nor are they taking a stroll. Nope, they're taking a stand...in front of a burning sorority house with an otherworldly ball of light.

What do you think of this design?
