Thumbs up The Wrestler was a great movie!!!

I saw this movie about a month ago, and was absolutely enthralled by every minute of it. It stars Mickey Rourke as a pro wrestler dealing with the twilight of his pro wrestling career. This really can't be described as a wrestling movie, as it's more about a wrestler who stayed too long, and is dealing with life after wrestling. It shows the tragedy of what many wrestlers go through after their careers are over, such as drugs, being broke, having strained relationships with family, (in this case with his teenaged daughter), and it deals with a guy trying to adjust to the real world, after dealing with a make believe world for so many years. Seeing Rourke have to sleep in his van after being unable to pay his rent, and seeing his extremely strained relationship with his daughter, (despite bringing these problems on himself), was still a tragic thing to see. At one point we even see him working at a deli, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's just sad seeing a guy go from being the top wrestler in the world, to go from getting some lady some tuna salad that no matter what he does, it seems to be too much, or too little for her, as he keeps going back and forth trying to get it right. I've seen many Rourke movies, and this is the best I've ever seen. I even saw him quoted as saying that it's the best movie he's ever made. I recommend this movie to everyone, and not just wrestling fans. As I said, it's a story about a tragic life, more than it's about wrestling. Great film!!

I have seen Iron Man, which was amazing, The Dark Knight, and The Wrestler. The rest I haven't seen yet, but I'm dying to see Defiance. I wanted to see it in theatres, but nobody wanted to go with me. I also want to see Gran Torino, Rambo, and Slumdog Millionaire. I'll list my tops of 2008, but need to think about it a little bit.

Rambo came out last year? I don't remember that. I thought it came out in 2007. I wanna see The Wrestler. Isn't Marisa Tomei a club stripper in the movie? Does Mickey have a sex scene with her? LOL. He always has a lot of sex in his movies hahahahahahahahahaha. I still haven't seen his 9 1/2 Weeks movie. I wanna see it. Little Mel, have you seen his Angel Heart movie with Robert Deniro and Lisa Bonet? Is it scary? It looks kinda scary to me just from reading what it's about. Little Mel, you didn't respond to the private message i sent you about Run DMC and rap music. I wanted to get your opinion about the message i sent you. It's really sad to see that some wrestlers have died tragically like Chris Jerico, Owen Hart, Andre The Giant. Am i missing any other wrestlers that have died tragically? I used to watch wrestling often when i was younger but not anymore. Hulk Hogan was my favorite wrestler.

Yes, Rambo came out in January 2008.

Rourke has a movie that he did with Diane Lane called Killshot. I want to rent that the next time I go out. Have you seen that one?

I haven't seen Angel Heart in years; I liked that one.

- btw, Chris Jericho is not dead.

What's that wrestler's name that died and his first name was Chris? He died a few years ago and he killed his family and himself. I haven't seen Killshot yet. I know it just came out on video this past Tuesday. I'm gonna rent it next weekend.

I finally got to see The Wrestler last weekend and I really enjoyed it.
Although it was depressing as Hell, it was a very powerful film.

Chris Benoit was the wrestler who killed his wife, son, and himself.

I really liked this film. The character was sort of molded after Jake The Snake Roberts who had substance abuse problems and is estranged from his family. I liked how it showed life on the road is hard on everyone involved.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to your pm Isiah. I still have about 5 people I still need to get back to. I get lazy sometimes. As far as Mickey having a sex scene with Tomei, no he doesn't. There is a brief sex scene in the movie, but it's with some groupie. Marisa is nude alot in this film though, which kind of surprised me. Not that I'm complaining any. I did see Angel Heart years back. I'll be honest, I mainly rented it because I was a horny teen, who had a crush on Lisa Bonet, and wanted to see her naked, so I don't remember much of the movie other than the sex scenes. Just being honest. lol!!

LOL@what you said about Lisa Bonet hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah i read about the sex scene she did with Mickey Rourke but i never saw it because i thought the movie looked kinda scary and i don't watch horror films. Is Angel Heart scary Little Mel? I read that Robert Deniro plays the devil in the movie and there's some voodoo scenes in the movie. I've seen Marisa Tomei nude before in Factotum movie with Matt Dillon. That movie is wack by the way LOL. Very boring LOL. Matt Dillon and Marisa are alcoholics in the movie and there's several sex scenes with Matt and Marisa and Matt and another woman. Matt Dillon is a lucky guy that he's had several sex scenes with attractive actresses. I saw him and Diane Lane in The Big Town movie and him and Diane have a few sex scenes. In one scene, he f*cked her on a bar counter at a strip club that she worked at because she was a stripper hahahahahahahahahaha. I got The Big Town on vhs and i watch it sometimes just to see the sex scenes LOL. He also had a love scene with her in Rumblefish movie which Mickey Rourke was also in. Matt and Diane were kissing on the couch and Diane took off some of her clothes. I love Diane Lane. She is a hot woman and she's still hot after all these years. She's aged very well. I got a few pictures of her on my bedroom wall.
